FZ6 meet at Deals Gap, NC June 24th & 25th
Anybody interested in getting together at Deals Gap Spring 2006. I was planning on making the trip next year and thought it would be a great place for a FZ6 meet. If you don't know much about the gap you can find out here
LINKS:

If anybodies interested post up. Anybody who is up for this trip PM me and let me know your level of commitment(maybe, probably, definite, etc.).
WHEN:
June 23rd, 24th, and 25th
WHERE:
Deals Gap, NC
Accomodations have been set up at Fontana Village. Both rooms and cabins have been set aside. We will recieve a better than 25% discount on rooms and a better than 15% discount on cabins. All you have to do is call (1-800-849-2258) and mention you are with the FZ6 Forum. If you have any problems ask for John. He's the one to talk to about group meets. Camping is also available. There are many activities including paintball, mountain biking, horseback riding, and many more. I plan on taking the family since there's plenty to keep them occupied while I'm out riding and having a good time.

I've only gotten PM's from people who have a status listed.
The plan so far is as follows:
If anyone needs to get a hold of me I am staying at Fontana Village under the name Eric Worthen.
Friday: Those arriving Thursday and are interested, we could possibly ride to the Honda Hoot for the day. This is approx. 60 miles from Fontana Village. Meet at Fontana Village at 8am with departure to follow shortly after. We will then stop at the Crossroads of Time to meet any remaining members. There will be demo rides, vendors, and other activities. I believe it's $15 to get in the gate. All makes are welcome at The Hoot and more than just Hondas will be available for demo rides. I believe you can demo Buell and Victory also.
http://www.hondahoot.com
Saturday: Early 7:30 am breakfast at Fontana Village. 8:30 am meet at the Crossroads of Time. We can all determine the best routes for a day ride with a lunch stop along the way. I am planning on a small BBQ around dinner time. Those who wish to attend the BBQ please pitch in a few dollars Sat morning for this. I will have my wife get some food and beverages and get everything together while we are riding Sat.
Sunday: Some people will be departing for home. Those that are staying can plan a ride on some of the roads we have yet to travel.
These are just my suggestions. Feel free to offer up your own. Nothing is set in stone and these plans can be changed.

The FZ1 boys/girls gather there annually. I hooked up with them a couple of years ago. I believe it's in early-mid June.
I had already sold my FZ1, but my wife and I trailered our sportbikes down. We had a blast! A fantastic bunch of people. Very well organized too.
There is no official info on the '06 meeting.

Hi ej, as we've discussed privately, you can count me in. The R1 rider I work with also wants to go. Spring/early summer works well for me.

Thats what made me think of trying to get some more people together. I guess I should have mentioned it before starting this thread.

I'll have to look into that. Any idea who usually sets it up?

BTW, I went there last year on my Harley and it was a fantastic trip, a great place for groups to meet because there is so much good riding within a short radius of wherever you stay. Between 28, The Dragon, Cherohala, and Foothills Pkwy, you can do a 250 to 350 mile loop, all on great roads and never hit the same road twice. The Dragon gets real crowded and more so every year as its popularity as a meeting place grows. You actually get more unobstructed riding on the other roads. We stayed at the Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge, an excellent place in every respect, but just one choice of many excellent places. There is a lot of discussion about Deals Gap and the surrounding area in the Deals Gap Yahoo Group here: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/dealsgap/. Pretty much any question you have about directions there, accomodations, roads, etc. will get an answer there.

Ron Johnson, owner of tailofthedragon.com rides an FZ1 so I'm sure he'd be plugged into the FZ1 group and meet. Try emailing him from the 'contact' page of the site. You'll probably get some real accurate info, real quick from him.

I organized the first two, and helped with last year's. We had about 200 people, tons of prizes, an organized cookout/party, and lots of rides... watch the rides section of the FZ1 board for info.
I'm not going to help organize this year - they've got plenty of volunteers. it's a great get-together!

It's a very well organized get-together. It'd be cool to have a bunch of 6's mixed in.

Checked out the FZ1OA site and it looks like alot of fun. If anyone is interested in joining this rally check out the link in MrVvrroomm's first post. Has some good info and FZ6's are welcome.

I'd personally like to ride the dragon just to say I did. I have heard the same thing that there are better roads. I would like to hit as many as possible. Maybe you could suggest some routes since you are familiar with the area.
