Default brakes

Anyone have to replace their brakes yet? I have about 10500 miles now and my brakes are starting to squeek but only when I am braking lightly. If I apply aggresive pressure it won't squeek. Does anyone know what the expected life of the brakes should be? I was thinking it is probably just dust or something but I don't know.

It probably is just dust. You'd have to check the marker on the pads. The little indentations in the middle of them. If they're flush with the rest of pad, time for some new ones.

Are the FZ6 front pads HH's?? I can't remember.

When in doubt, check them. The owner's manual should tell when to replace the pads based on the pad thickness.

Nope ... the stock pads are GG's. Thats the reason I replaced mine, the pads were just fine but I wanted an upgrade to HH.

Cool... thanks greatzippy! I'll make sure to grab the HH's when it comes time. Any difference compared to the GG's?

O hell yeah!!! I could tell the differance in stopping power the first time I rode with the HH pads on the bike. The increase was definatly worth the $$$ spent on the new pads. Then to top it off I recently had SS lines put on .... I can stop my bike with 2 fingers now if I wanted to (but I'm tryin not to get into the habbit of doing it).

You went GG up front and kept HH in the back, right?

That's what I meant. It was still early, and no coffee.
