Talking FZ6S to FZ6N conversion.

Thanks to everyone on the forum for their input on parts and big thanks to wavex for helping me find a headlight in France. The following is the breakdown on where I got each part and what tools I needed to get the job done.

I basically followed Superman89s and Tassues thread. I got my main OEM parts from three different places.

I got parts ref 1-5 which is the main headlight unit used from France...Thanks again Wavex!
These first few deal with the headlight unit (as shown in post #2)
(Quant.) (Part Ref) (Part #)
1 1 1B3-84300-00-00
1 2 2F9-84314-00-00
1 3 5JW-84397-00-00
1 4 5DM-84347-00-00
1 5 5JW-84346-00-00
Parts 1-5 are all quoted as one unit. All inclusive. Use sep. only for replacements.
Cost of headlight = 300.00

Anything below with an * means you can buy it locally from Bikebandit or Ron Ayers. The non * parts I bought from TeamMoto in Australia. (www.teammoto.com.au).
(Quant.) (Part Ref) (Part #)
2 6 90480-14008-00
2 7 90480-12072-00*
1 8 1B3-23121-00-00
1 9 1B3-83599-00-00
1 10 1B3-23131-00-00
1 11 1B3-8431R-00-00
1 12 1HX-27415-00-00*
1 13 90464-15157-00*
2 14 95027-06014-00*
4 15 90149-06302-00*
1 16 1B3-23174-01-00
2 17 90480-14585-00*
2 18 90480-11057-00*
1 19a 1B3-28307-00-00
4 20 95817-06012-00*
The bracket that tassue had to make has part # 1B3-23327-00

For the meter cover:
Cover - 1B3-83559-00
2 90167-05076-00* screw, tapping
2 90179-05523-00* nut
2 90149-05299-00* screw
2 90269-05049-00* rivet

Cost of parts from Bikebandit = 51.60
Cost of parts from TeamMoto AU = 423.92

Aftermarket parts:
Fly-n-Cycle
Handle bar adapters - Fly N Cycle, Inc. MIRROR MOUNTING - 10 dollars a piece
Trojan Universal Fairing Mirror Adjustable Mirror Set - Fly N Cycle, Inc. Universal Mirrors - 32 dollars for the pair.
Cost at FlynCycle = 65.27

PJSParts.
Rizoma Zero 11 Turn signals - PJs Parts - 40 each
Oh yea....Just FYI in case someone gets these signals, I forgot to add in that I talked to Paige at PJsParts and she said you MUST USE the load box that comes with it or not you'll short out the signals. They say it converts the 12V to 6V. I had the older version of these signals in the rear before and they didnt have any load boxes. But since I am out of space up front, I had to move the older ones to the front and put the new ones in the back with the load boxes in the side fairings. I do have a FlashIT signal equalizer/relay.
Cost at PJSParts = 89.00

CycleGear
MOTRAX IndySpacer Turn Signal Bases (Yamaha 2) - Cycle Gear - MOTRAX IndySpacer Turn Signal Bases: IndySpacer Turn Signal Bases - 11 dollars for the set. You'll have to file down the spacers a little bit for the outside piece to make it fit.
MOTRAX IndyLeads Turn Signal Connectors (Yamaha) - Cycle Gear - MOTRAX IndyLeads Turn Signal Connectors: IndyLeads Turn Signal Connectors - 6 dollars for the pair. You dont need this, but I was lazy.
Cost at CycleGear = ~20.00

Total cost = 949.79 tax/shipping/parts.

The US dollar hasnt been strong so getting parts from AU and Europe isnt as cheap as it used to be.

Superman89 talked a lot about the throttle sticking and yep, I had the same problem. I tried rerouting the cable to the top in front of the handle bars, moved the cable to the right side of the frame, and cleaned up all the wirings to stop any blockage but I still had binding. My solution was simple, keep the throttle wire away from the headlight period. So I just had it ran behind the handlebar between the bar and tank. Looked a little funny at first, but its not bad after a while.

I'm really glad to get this all done. I had this guy on a S4R did a triple take on sunday when I took the bike out for ride. He asked what year it was and after I told him its an 05, he just stopped there and stared for like 5 mins. LOL. I'm attaching pictures below.

Cheers!

Being able to see the road without any fairing obstruction is nice. Maybe its psychological but the bike feels easier to flick into the turns. The wind drag feels close to my old KZ550, so it doesnt bug me too much.

I dig the new headlight. Is there some sort of panel that goes under the speedo for aerodynamics? Seems that the flat surface under the speedo would catch too much wind at speed and put a lot of pressure on those mounting brackets.

Great job on the conversion. I give this thread a "Fonzie" Fonzarelli two-thumbs up.

LOL

The speedo panel is humped so it forces air away from it. Also the speedo is mounted on four screws. You dont necessarily need the speedo cover, but it will leave the ugly wire exposed. You can look for a mini headlight fairing to cover the speedo but I think it will hold up fine by itself. If the speedo holds up fine in Europe, I would hope it will hold up ok here .

Got it. I've never seen a true Euro spec naked FZ6 from the 04-06 speedo era. I know the 07-08 have this little panel that goes under the speed to make it more flush with the headlight that also provides some aerodynamics to it. Just was curious if ours would have the same type of panel.
