Talking Operation Phoenix - V3.0

For the record:

- FZ6 v1.0:

v1.0.jpg

I just did not like the Acerbis headlight, so I went with:

- FZ6 v1.1:

v1.1.jpg

That one unfortunately ended up here:

crash.jpg

It was totalled, so I decided to use the insurance money to get a used '06 from Mani and make it this:

- FZ6 v2.0

That one took a beating last weekend (YouTube - Ojai... a bad ending to a great day.) and I lost the headlight + seat cowl + bellypan. Fortunately, everything else is intact, so I am starting the new Operation Phoenix:

- FZ6 v3.0 This is how the bike looks like today:

Now this project will be fairly straight forward:

- Phantom 4 headlight coming from Germany
phantom4.jpg

- Black powder coated top triple (part on its way from another forum member)

- Ordered the LSL Streetbars, black aluminum with black bar ends from here: LSL Handle Bars

- Ordered new front sprocket 15t (stock is 16t) from the same website above.

- will probably cut the rear passenger peg brackets (coming off the subframe).

forgot to mention: - find a way to mount Oso's setback plates for the rearsets

I am copying avogt, see his thread (with pics) LSL Bars Installed....Pics

I expect the difference to be quite obvious... these are almost flat compared to the stock ones that have a pretty steep raise to them.

My main reason for doing this is that after trying Oso's monster (clip ons) I really feel like I`ll be more comfortable in corners if I can lean forward a little more on the bike... with the stock bars I feel like I sit up too much, and my center of gravity is too high.
Hopefully it`ll help increase aerodynamics a little as well (since I am naked).

Of course the price to pay will be comfort, but I am not worried about it for the type of riding I do (commuting and day rides).

Well I got an FZ6N headlight for tkl999 already and I think he ended up paying something like $250 shipped (it was 150 euros I believe). It was a used one, but looked great.

Want me to look around for another one for you? If I do bust my ass looking, you better buy it if I find one though

LOL, I'm at work.... No camera. I'll shoot some as soon as I get home. I had to order all the missing parts from Australia. Burlington Yamaha didnt bother returning my call unless I bought the whole kit from them. That's why it took so long to get everything together.
