Yeah, more of an issue when riding. In fact I took them off when I went for a spin. I tried to angle it upwards a bit more by making an offset bracket for the lower bolt, but it doesn't quite work. I think I'm going to find a good way to hack a piece of it off.

End result is that I wouldn't recommend this part.

Good to know thanks Tom... it's weird that they did not design this mod with that problem in mind
How tall are you? Maybe with a pair of set back plates, it would help get your knees out of the way...

I deffinately like this look it just kinda looks funky from the front but i think thats because the mirrors are missing and i would do different signals but like everyone else sais the guage cover and headlight go together beutifully but unfortunately for me i have an 06 so i have the useless ugly guage that wouldnt match that cover ill find out how much it would be to get the 07 guage as i would like to have the tach on it anyways

6 feet and already have the rizomas set furthest back. Definitely going to have to cut them.

Thumbs up Awesome!

Nice one on figuring out how to install a FZ1N headlight on to a FZ6!

I was wondering if you could make a step by step process of installing the headlight since I think a lot of people would want to do this conversion.

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but where did you get the fork mount to hold the speedometer?

Also I am not sure if you mentioned this but is all the connectors straight connects with no modification?

Thanks in advance,
Again, awesome conversion.

Thanks! I can do a step by step, but much of the info is in this thread already, as there is no real rocket science to it. I needed to modify the FZ1N bracket, but all it took was some hacksawing and drilling.

The fork mounts came from flyncycle.

The connectors do need modification as well. The main connector for the FZ1N wiring harness is not compatible with the connector coming from the FZ6 frame. And the FZ6 harness does not work because it is meant for 2 headlights of course, and the mating for the blinkers is reversed (i.e. M/M). So I decided to cut the stock FZ6 connector from its harness, cut off the FZ1N connector, and using the FZ6 connector and the FZ1N light plugs, figure out the associated wires and solder them. Because I used the stock FZ6 speedo I didn't need to touch those wires, only the lighting. Hopefully that makes sense. Diagram below. And some new pics after some weekend painting (note the new black bits)!

Hey tom,

I fell in love with your ride after wavex suggested (don't tell wavex tho, I told him I loved his bike too) I look around the forum for ideas on how to take the clothes off a 2007 FZ6. My dealership just ordered the FZ1N headlight kit from Burlington Yamaha for me. Would be helpful to have the step by step instructions for the installation for the guys at the shop. Any chance you would like to share? I don't know much about taking things apart and I am not sure if all stuff on forum is sufficient info for someone who does know how to do that stuff?!? If you would be so kind? Also are those stock turn signals with your headlight?
Thanks so much! Beautiful bike!
Niki

Do you have a link of the fork clamps you ordered?

So you took the original clamp on the left and modified it to the one on the right, which included cutting to make it shorter and drilling a hole in it. That hole you drilled, is that where you bolted the top headlight side cover bolt?
