I was trying to see if the mounting changed when you did the head bearings, since you mentioned new brackets, but I couldn't really tell. I just went to your "sequel" thread and saw the new pictures, but I still can't tell what the new brackets are, and if the mounting position changed....

Your new gauge pod looks good on the bike, as does the 2007 with the FZ1N setup.

Yeah Tom's setup is amazing, no doubt

My headlight is mounted an inch higher than at the beginning... I was not trying to go higher, but did without noticing when mounting the headlight back on And I like it better now! Yall were right hehe.... I`ll take some pics soon

doh meant to say that since '06 and below speedo design is different than the '07...will the FZ1 headlight and associated parts still work? I'm 99.999% ready to buy a used '06 for my first bike, but IMHO, the US faired version doesn't suit me. I LOVE the FZ6N that the euro and asia get.

...how hard would it be to do this to an '06 or below? I really really want to get the FZ6...but I don't want to tackle a project that isn't worth the time/money/headache.

OK sorry I did not understand that from your earlier post

The '06 speedo won`t fit the headlight the same way... so either you`d have to create a different mounting bracket for your '06 speedo, or get an '07 speedo... else you can also pick other headlights

There is a pretty good setup for the stock FZ6N headlight that looks great when paired with the fly screen here: Barracuda Moto - Yamaha - FZ6 - FZ6 S2 - Highest Quality Motorbike Components

This works with pre-07 speedos. Of course it's going to be even more $$.

How hard would it be to fabricate a different mounting bracket for the '06 speedo? The situation is I'm a new rider looking for my first bike. I love how the FZ6N looks, but I'm not a big fan of the stock faired version, and I haven't seen any streetfighter aftermarket headlights i like...

The cheapest I can find a used '07 FZ6 is $6,000...while used '06 and below are anywhere from $3-5,000. I don't want to compromise on the styling, but to pay $1,000 and above (not to mention the cost of the actual FZ1 headlight) is a bit much.

Is there any other way to get what I'm looking for?

Im sure with a grinder and a welder u can fab up anything. Its really a matter of how hard u want it to work. If u want something bolt on u can get a headlight that mounts to the forks. goto Ron Ayers Motorsports - Motorcycle, ATV, Jet Ski and Generators Parts and Accessories or Motorcycle Parts, Motorcycle Accessories by BikeBandit.com and see if u can find the mount on microfiche and hopefully that will give u an idea if its feasible. good luck

You don`t like my streetfighter headlight?

My recommendation: find a cheap '06 and put $2k into your mods and naked conversion.... that`ll be plenty enough to do whatever you want.

For the details, just let us know after you get the bike... it`ll be easier.

Good luck.

Doesn't that radiator long thingy get in the way of your knees? Might also dent the tank especially if you're not careful walking the bike and your hip hits it.
