I love this mod, I think you will really dig it.

The other great thing about it, is that its not permanent and you can remove or install the mod in literally 60 seconds...so it would be really easy to pull out if you wanted to let the beast roar for a day at the track, or just a day in the twisties.

Save your money, they don't do SHIT.

I tested my exhaust with the db "killers" in and out...and the difference was barely noticeable under 8K rpm. Above 8K, there was a *slight* reduction in noise, but that was it.

Putting the db killers on these pipes is literally like putting a band aid on a sucking chest wound.

For a whopping $7 worth of aluminum and about an hour of your time, you can make restrictors (as described in this thread) that will actually WORK and are tuneable.

+1

I really wish I had saved the $60.00 it cost me - especially if this works the way Para says it does. I do like the way the PR-1 powertips look, but looks is all you're getting. If you really want them, I got mine along with my pazzo's from motomummy. I really like their service and shipping is always free no matter how much or how little you spend.

No problem!! They don't carry a ton of stuff for the FZ, but they do have some and they have always been very responsive and helpful through e-mail.

You are wrong. Go back to school.

The ear doesn't hear it that way(sound intesity). The general rule of thumb is that the human ear percieves twice the volume at a 10db gain. This is not agreed upon by everyone though.

3dB = 100% increase/decrease in SPL.

I started my education in Acoustics and finished it in Digital Signal Processing, I know what I'm talking about here.

Right, because its BULLSHIT and not rooted in MATH.

3dB is a 100% increase in power. Period.

Now, if you want to try and map power to perceived volume levels, you need to set up instruments for the EXACT scenario you want to measure.

Since we are talking about a dynamic scenario with doppler and a bunch of other factors in play, talking about the POWER of the signal is the only logical thing to do.

However, I know you are going to say that traditionally, in a LAB, 1 bel is perceived as twice as "loud". (1bel = 10dB).

Right. It takes twice the power to produce a 3dB gain. In my 18 years as an MECP cetified car audio tech, this gain doesn't sound like twice the volume.

but it does sound like you two are trying to see who can piss further into the wind... Let it go

I just put on the Two Bros pipes and WOW is it loud. A guy at a shop said that after you ride it for a little while, it will quiet down once the cans get some carbon from the exhaust in them. We will see. If not, ill be doing this mod

edit: lol, just found out this thread is 1 year old, lol
