Default Competition for wavex

first, let me say hello! my names Jeremy D'Ambrosio, and im sort of new here. ive been lurking around for a while, never really registered due to the fact i was a supermoto rider without a sportbike (saddled on a drz-sm), until a few months ago i purchased an fz6 and fell in love with bikes.

ive been riding dirtbikes for 11 years now, been through a few GNCC series, along with AWRCS. got into street about 3 years ago, and just loved dragging knee and backing in ever since (both to which i am not that good at hahaha!)

on to the good stuff! this winter has my fz6 under heavy construction. I just dont like fairings; and coming from dirtbikes, wind hitting my face with no windshields or stationary plastic in my way is just natural to me.

ive always loved the euro fz6, so i figured i send a search to "strip" my fz6 naked!

about a week ago i came across a very nice member named wavex who had connections to an expensive, but very unique and sleek looking naked headlamp manufacturer in Europe. hes helping me to acquire a KMP K3 style light (link: KMP - Spécialiste de la pièce détachée de GSX-R de 1985 à nos jours.)

along with converting my light setup, i will be painting the bike with help from a buddy who knows his stuff (far more than I, which, is nothing)
the bike will be coated with a pearl orange rust with black accents.

i also have some pazzo levers, and other accessories on order, as for blinkers and other naked convert parts, im still looking around for the right style. im trying to use some of wavex's references, with staying away from copying his bike. no one likes a duplicator!

here's the start product. a spiffy 07 fz6, equipped with some leo vince carbons. also pictured is the orange sample my bike will be painted, a pic of my previous DRZ, and me in my gear (minus the joe rocket pants i have on order to match the jacket).

cant wait to see the turn-out! i will provide pic-by-pic descriptions as i progress!

I can't wait to see the K3 on the FZ... as I told you, if it looks better than mine, I`ll be pissed

Be prepared to wait a couple of long weeks for the headlight to arrive... I ordered mine the week before last and still nothing!
That and a couple of other things are in transit as well... with a little luck I`ll be working on the bike all day Saturday

Also, I think I mentioned that in my original Naked thread, but you`ll have to be a little creative with the headlight... it comes with fork mounting brackets, but no direct mount on the headlight itself... so some careful drilling will be required. I`ll do a detailed picturial when I do mine, so you`ll see how I took care of it (certainly not the best way, but it works).

Good luck on your project and definitely keep this thread alive with progress reports and pics!

i planned to wait a bit for it haha, it has a long way to travel from europe to Pa heh.

the mounting shouldnt be to bad, a little drilling never hurt anyone... it cant be much worse then drilling and mounting the KTM lamp onto my suzuki! (required drilling into the bulb housing, which seems much smaller than the lamp coming for the fz6)

cant wait to see the end of yours either david! im still all wet eyed from seeing the pics of your -RIP- old nakey fizzer!

Well drilling into the bulb housing is exactly what you`ll be doing, so I am glad you have experience with that

I am going to try to shoot a descriptive video of me taking the front end off, doing the main wiring work and mounting the new headlight on... that should make it easy for all those FZ6 owners dying to go naked (we know you it's in all of you!)

When I saw the picture of you in your post I immediately thought of TRON!

Anyways, good luck on the naked. Should be cool.

One look at the headlight setup on your motard got me thinking that would look pretty good on your project FZ6 as would some barkbusters- sort of a Tarded Fizzer effect

cheers ....kimbo
