i was wondering about that before... if you have a friend who has access to a CNC, why not just remake the triple tree suitable for clip ons? (i think the only problem you'll have after that is probably clearance on the tank... but a triple tree that would get rid of those moutns for the handlebars would be of great interest to me and i'm sure other guys who've thrown on clip ons already.

Why you dont take angle grinder for the start and cut 'em off smooth? I'm sure if you would change your mind later you could find used original triple.

i was gonna just have them machined down, but they are hollow on the inside after the threading ends.

any clues as to where that speedo from the black bike with drag bars came from? i like it.

haha! who am i kidding! i love the stocker! i WILL find a way to make it work!

dont worry, once the headlamp gets here, things will start moving along... im at a snail pace right now heh!

this actually worked well, i need to make a solid mount. but, it blends with the frontend end, clears the key (i still need to move the speedo out about a 1/4 of an inch to make it clear with extra finger room), and i suspect it will flow with the headlamp once mounted.

That is similar to how I would mount it.

If you notice there is a metal guide for the throttle cables that bolts to the bottom of the triple. You can pretty easily make mount for your speedo that bolts to that location and it will be very sturdy. Use steel at least as thick as the cable guide and you're golden! You dont need that cable guide when you go naked btw.

thanks.

hey, atleast there doing something about it. the real PITA would be losing $800 in the mail haha

yes, the mount for the speedo is going to be steel, and damn thick... i need to pick up some this weekend and some new tips for the plasma cutter to do it.

i threw out the triple clamp idea, while i would love to do it... its a bit expensive right now ($469 for metal, and machining the clamp), i figured i should save that for someday if i decide some inverted forks are in order.

Hi dreambuilder. Thats exactly how i have my round speedo mounted. Its bolted to the cable guide, i just fliped it so its facing upwards not down. You should drill a hole and tap it on the left side of the triple so the speedo is mounted rigidly on both sides.

I thought it was plastic. But after looking closely at the pics i realized it aluminum

You should try to get that speedo cover for your 07 speedo.

final speedo mount position. i drilled and tapped a second hole on the other side for another mount point... now its super rigid, i just need some steel plates for final mock-up

also heres a pic of the front end, its for sale, let me know if you want it. it has everything you need to convert your older style to the 07

it doesnt bother me, i like the wind, it adds the to the freedom of riding a motorcycle in my opinion. im sure 100mph and over will bother you with no place to tuck your head... but, i never go that fast anyways
