Oh, and I owe an update on the costs of things. Also need to sand and paint some of the exposed steel bits that are showing rust (fairing brackets, set back plates, and fairing stay).
(unless DefyInertia comes through on his promised 07+ to 04-06 swingarm mod write up)
It's just a matter of time. The swingarm should arrive on Wednesday, the R1 shock should be here next week. I also need a rear axle etc. but that won't hold up the swap write-up entirely.
I can tell you right now that it looks like the brake/swingarm plate is the same so the swap will likely be very direct. I'm also going to cut my hugger and put on my black wheels at the same time.
Are you going to keep the peg feelers on there? If so, why? Is it me or do you have the front end dropped really low? How is your steering lock situation?

Feelers are coming off ASAP. Front end is dropped ~1.5". Having the front end dropped has no affect on the steering stop. Rather, having clip-ons under the triple causes the clip-ons to contact the gas tank before hitting the steering stop. Only remedy for the clip-ons I chose is to modify the tank.
Man that does look sweet... did you ride it yet? how does it feel? You dig?
I only rode it up into the trailer so far. I need to find a place to ride w/o cops around. I used to live 5 blocks from the CA Highway Patrol; now I live 3 blocks from the LA County Sherrifs and LA County Fire. However, having the pegs higher and the front lower does feel more sporty and natural. I didnt notice a difference in having the 520 -1/+2 conversion.

Cool, the feelers are threaded and screw off.
My concern with the front end being dropped is that you might endo like crazy under hard braking at the track...I had this problem in the past. There are other issues but this is the most in your face issue at even a moderate pace.
I have the same problems with my clipons right now. I want them low and slanted in but my steering is limited too much for the street. It's fine on the track and I've used it like this on the street but I want a better solution. I've seen pics on someone who pounded in and repainted their FZ6 tank...it looked ok but seems like a lot of work.

Your point about doing endo's is a good one. However, in my one track day, my biggest issue with the bike was with how vague and light the front felt. It was like I could never get enough weight down on the front end. But we'll see . . .
Clip-ons on the FZ6 is certainly not a good everyday solution. Going cafe racer/drag bar sweep style might fix it but also changes the personality of the handling/steering. And seeing how pretty that tank looks behind those R6 fairings, I think I'd rather not touch the tank until I decide to make the bike street legal again. And if I did, I'd probably do a naked job.

Hey Oso!
it`s really looking good :-)
i hope i`ll still be able to do that mod, when i get all my exams and tests at university done end of february :-)
you know what would look awesome? painting the fairing in the same color as the tank and other stuff on the bike and then throw some yamaha racing decals on there, like the ones, they used for the racing replica 03-05 r6 series!
something like these here :
then throw on that R1 rear end that french company is making built to fit the fz6 and sell the other one on ebay and then it`ll be a perfect FzR6^^
