alos i wonder how far you`ve come along with that R1 rear? in case you did not cut any part of the original subframe yet you might give the french rear a shot and ask them how much it would be... ;-)
also when do we see new pictures o your bike?
think it looks awesome can´t wait to see that fairing painted!
when are you planning to do that?
unfortunately i got thrown back quiate a bit with my own modding plans, since i neede new tires (had just under 1mm left rear) so had to pay 230€ for Sportec M3 and just had 10.000km service done... another 259€ together with mounting of tires....
then there was service of the car and it also needed ne tires... so there go another 1000 dollar just to keep car and bike running...
anyways, don`t want to sound like a total wussy, wo when all gos well (especially university wise) i think by end of february i`ll have some money to spend on the bike again ;-) if all goes well..
so yeah...would like to see some new shots of the bike and maybe you have allready come up with some painting schemes...

I hear you about money. I'm still buying stuff. I've picked up a PCIII and a Ohlins rear shock in the last couple pay checks. We've got the Winter Holidays here in the States which are expensive (get togethers, food, drinks, gifts, activities). So I've eased up on my spending on the bike just a bit. I'm planning on bring it out of storage and bringing it to my residence's garage so that I could work on that R1 tail. Should be fun.
And I've decided on a color but hadn't announced it here. I'm going white. I wanted a color I couldn't find on any street-going FZ6 and I also wanted a color that a typical privateer bike builder might use. I'm not a fan of yellow or green, purple is too girly for my taste, blue is my favorite color and red & black are also good, but they're taken by other Yami bikes. So I settled on white. Clean, makes for nice palette for decals. I currently only have a couple ideas for decals. I want to put a black retroreflective 28's on the front of the bike and maybe on the tail. I also want to put a set of "Yamaha Race Stripes", starting at the lower fairing running thru to the tank. Kind of how the 06 50th anniversary bikes had them.
Oh and that FAZER Cup tail looks real clean. I wish they had a rear shot with some aftermarket pipes. It would give a better indication of how it might look on a typical track bike.
So the bike is now back in the shop. A lot of my tools got water damaged in the flooding of my old rental place so I'm taking the bike to them. They usually give me a discount so I'm hoping they do that again. I'll be replacing the tires (worn from 5K miles of use plus one track day), replacing the front brake lines (they got cinched by forks that's now causing a link), install a used PowerCommander III USB, a used Ohlins Rear Shock 46HRC/YA-403, and re-install the setback rear sets.
I can't make it happen on my own. My gf's bro-in-law was, first, gonna get me some scrap aluminum to make them out of. Next he said he would get some fresh plates. Afterwards he asked me to buy the aluminum. I waited for 2 weeks for a call from their materials buyer and then I asked for my set back plates back (over 8 weeks of waiting in total). Now I have them back and I hear they just reduced his hours from 40 hours to 32 hours (guess the whole shop is in a slow down). Oh well. I'm still willing to let someone take them as a template and fab up a bunch of them. But now, I'd ask to have the first set and either hold some of their cash while they fab them up --OR-- trade me for a set of rizomas. I don't want to be without rearsets again. It's too limiting; makes it hard to move and work on the bike and I want to know when I can get back on the back.
If you want rearset plates made, your best bet will be to get them cnc water jetted. that would definitely be the cheapest way of getting these things made the right way.
And btw, if I was interested in getting something made from steel that looked like what got fabbed for you, I would do it my own garage with a hacksaw lol. Seriously, you got ripped if the guy charged you $150 for those. Thats about $10 worth of steel and half an hour of work max. And it looks really sloppy.

If you're offering to buy a CNC Water Jet and make them out of aluminum for ~$50 a pair, I'll take you up. And the steel pair I have ain't pretty but they'll do the job.
Once some things come in, the bike is gonna be 95% functionally complete including having everything installed. Just need finish to finish the custom R1 tail and seat mod, get everything painted and get everything tuned in.

Updated the cost totals for the work I've had done. Some of the labor is missing but the cost now stands at $3,800. Not the cheapest mod in the world. But at least it's been fun to watch the bike change. Should be like riding a whole new bike once I get it back in a week or two.
Can`t wait to see it finished... was it painted already?
No paint yet. I'm having second thoughts about painting it. Can't settle on a paint scheme and I don't know if I want someone else painting it. Some of the fairing bits have take a little abuse as the bike has moved around a bit.

So I got the bike back on Saturday. Damn those EBC rotors look sexy. I have pics and I'll upload them later today. Four things left to do (unless DefyInertia comes through on his promised 07+ to 04-06 swingarm mod write up):
1) Fit the 03-04 R6/06-08 R6S Front Fender (should be simple Dremel and drill work)
2) Fit the 04-06 R1 tail (this will be more interesting as it involves modifying a stock seat)
3) Paint it (probably flat black, but I've flipped-flopped about a dozen times already)
4) Sign up for a track day (chasfz, wavex, ducksridingbikes wanna join me?)
