I got a few of us who are interested in picking up reasonably priced set back plates. So I'll be hitting up the customizer this afternoon.

I'm hoping in the $50-$100 range. I'm expecting something closer to $50 though ($75?). He didn't give me any sort of price. He did say making anything out of aluminum is more expensive than cutting something out of 3/16" steel plate, which would be his first cut and/or template.

Thanks for the offer. Besides my customizer's CNC guy, I also have access to my gf's brother-in-law who is a Foreman/Machinist. But I'll keep your offer in mind if I can buy the template from my customizer and we have no other way to get a run of these set back plates.

Awesome work Oso. Almost went this way myself, until the FZ6 Cup started here in Australia. Also went a bit harder, getting a full race-bike last year, and now upgrading to an '07 R6 for next season. Good luck with all the work, and fun associated with customisation, and I'll defintiely keep checking back on the thread

Got one more PM and my customizer is working on my set back plates. I had just missed him yesterday when he had taken my left rear set home to measure and cut the template. I'm gonna try to catch up with him today at lunch.

oso, did you completely give up on the R1 tail? since you have access to a cnc machine and a customizer, would it be possible to mod an R1 subframe to fit? Then from there i guess figure out where all the fuse box/wiring/etc would go? If you're considering this as a pure track bike you could just tuck all that crap underneath... just a thought

The R1 subframe would take a lot of work and is expensive. The mount points are very different and there probably isn't an easy way to make them work.

For now, I'm only considering this bike a track bike though I have a front 04-06 R1 headlight and R6 flushmount turn signals ready to go. I'd also have to do something with the tail light. This reminds me, I need to pull the bike off my insurance and register it non-op.

You got them? My customizer finished them late Friday but he's off today and we're gonna do a placement test tomorrow. I'm gonna try to drop by at lunch though anyways. I'll be bugging him to see if he's willing to make a dozen or so.
