No offense but if Yamaha spent X amount of money engineering our bikes why do people think a 5 minute 2 cent hacksaw job on the airbox is going to make their bike supergreat.
Do ya'll not realize the ammount of turbulence that probally shoves into the system.

Looks like a clean job and what not but I'd be surprized if it actually helped a whole lot I've been wrong a million times before though. Happen to have a before and can you get an after dyno.

Sorry for lashing out in your thread, just seen a few of these and it kills me because I've heard the FZ6 runs lean anyways and this would just cause overkill. If you would like I can delete my posts and open a new thread so yours doesn't become a pissing match (due to me). In other words I don't want to piss anyone.

I am neither in favor of, nor against the assortment of "airbox" mods which have been presented on this forum. There does seem to be a firly common misconception, however, that this type of mod will make the bike run leaner--this is simply not true. Since the amount of fuel being injected is directly related to the amount of air which passes through the throttle body (where it is metered), if more air can come into the system befor the throttle bodies, the fuel mixture will be adjusted accordingly--it is exactly this theory which makes superchargers and turbos function. While this mod may or may not increase the power output, it will not cause the bike to run any leaner. A vaccuum leak past the throttle bodies would be different and result in a lean condition.

no its fine I dont have anywhere that Im running at 12 afr with my custom header so the slight lean from this may still be below 13 but you have a good point. I am also going to sync the carbs when the mopro kit comes in.

edit: I have an AEM AFR guage and remapped the PCIII ;-)

Hold on a sec am i missing something here since when did the FZ6 have carbs... or are you refering to the injectors... as viper z is right the FZ is fuel injection which is controlled by factory comp to adjust afm... but as u have a aftermarket comp... ffs im lost... whats the what thingy...
