well done tassue! How much was that headlight BTW? If you check out the FZ6 mods page I have a link to folks who make acrylic protectors for the headlight!
You should notice that the added wind pressure takes even more weight off your wrists from about 80kmh (50mph) and wind pressure does not come too big an issue anything below about 180kmh (110mph) around which time you'll be grinning so wildly not to really notice.
80mph seeming slower? Maybe perhaps in disconnecting the guages that the speedo has reset to kmh instead of mph?
Congratulations on seeing through your dream and welcome to the naked side!
and of course your bike looks H-O-T!
cheers .... kimbo

kimbo59- the headlight is only 350u.s. dollars
for the mounting bracket and the
alum.sides that holds the turn signals
price went up plus 17.5 sales tax in the U.K.
so it was 607.00 w/out shipping
some money can be saved by not getting the bulbs(h4)
my headlight came with it........
as for 80 being slow ....its just me.....only thing needed for the guages
is resetting the clock
this is what i got from the u.k.
it will all come in pieces ...you will have to put the puzzle together
the metal bracket that mounts the headlight to the forks
there are 4 bolt holes on the metal bracket.....
3 on top 1 on bottom.....
on the U.S.faired version you only have one bolt tapped(under the top triple tree part)
so you need to remove the triple tree and tap the other 2 bolts
or leave it together and predrill a hole and run short self tapping metal screws
worked very well
the lower bolt you need to make a bracket for or buy yamahas factory one
this is hard to explain i may start a new thead with pics
let me know if you need help or questions-tassue
yep , ive got a parts # list i'll need to order the mirrors and back cover
for the gauges.i might use the v-max mirrors and a yamaha standard mirrors are very close
.its pretty easy to do this mod....i dont know why others said it couldnt be done
hell after you sell the fairing i might have only spent 200.00
the funny part is.......in forks and triple tree the holes are indented
like its telling you were the bolts go its just that theres no tapped hole
just a 1/8 hole(dent)
it wants you to make it naked ..........go back to page one and look
at the pics it wants to be naked ..........you want to be naked
Hey, add another horn on the right side. A low tone, to make it louder and add symmetry to the bike and also to cover up that hole. Just run the wires parallel with a splitter spade connector at the existing one. Did I say great job, already!?!?!?
.its pretty easy to do this mod....i dont know why others said it couldnt be done
I never said it couldn't be done.... i just said it would take alot of work (ie. tapping the holes, reworking the wiring...) and that it would cost over $1,000 bucks. At the time - $200 was too much. I am tempted, but if I can find the parts cheaper - we can see how the blue looks naked.
Wait... can you even get a blue one naked over seas?!?!?! All they have over there is red and silver for the naked model,eh? That's it - I'm def doing it... which means I prolly won't be getting too mcuh work done today...

come to the darkside my son
good idea about the horn....that sucker just theaded straight into the frame
im going to take mad pics...and post how easy it really is
as for tapping holes it may not need it the single bolt hold it just fine....
but i wanted it to be good and solid
and the wiring is easy one wire needs moved
but if you dont want the turn signals on all the time in the front
1 wire cut from each side will fix that......
im i the only one to really do this mod?
anyone got the wieght on the fairing......?
I love it....I have not been much in to the mods as I love the bike as is. but to be Naked that's a mod worth doing. Can you give up the parts supplier as I have been unable to find a euro parts dealer on the web for the headlight & backplate? Or if any one else has a link to listing...
Thanks
That's an awesome mod. Can't really call it a mod though 'cuz Yamaha makes them that way (in other places around the world).
I'd like to do that mod.
Ever thought about getting into the business of piecing together kits of that mod, then copying instructions? You could make some $$$ importing the pieces, and I wouldn't mind paying a tad extra for a "everything included ready to install" kit, especially from someone who's done it.
I'm pretty sure there's enough of us FZ6 owners that would like to change our bikes over.
Do it, before Yamaha catches on and does it themselves.
