Damn. I have to work on my tact. I didn't mean for it to sound as mean as you took it to be.

No sweat, at least you didn't add a bunch of smilies to it.

It would have been worse if you added:

I only use them when they're appropriate (the smilies).

Talking I did it! I crossed onto the dark side!

Ok....disclaimer needs to be a little more serious. This is a pretty hard mod. I did a few things diferent though. I got new screws both for the upper joint and the lower joint. The change screws around don't make it for me, i just got screws that fitted exactlly. OK now for the serious part, I interchanged the lower spacer of the FZ6 shock to the R6 shock. Its a type of bearing thing which in the FZ6 version is used to keep the shock in plae on the lower joint, its twice as long as the R6 one. IT'S IMPORTANT! Just swap em. Now for the serious beef.

I would of apreciated to know (BEFORE I DREMMELED MY FRAME!!!!) that the R6 shock doesnt fit perfectlly on the upper joint. IT's smaller that the FZ6 so in kinda dances around it the joint. I fixed this by adding a washer to each side of the upper spacer and that kept the shock prety much in place.

Now is there any difference is this mod worth it.........HELL YEA!!!
The bike is more stable, smoother, and it lowered it a whole inch! I love it! Now the only problem is that i have it on the max settings. I weight 190 pounds and for those of you who are heavier might have to interchange the springs. I tested mine with two people and it was acceptable. Around 300 pounds. I had to dremmel the hugger a bit more for the 2 up riding but it's barely noticeable change. Ill prolly post pics tonight.

well we learn as we go, for ex. dont try my R1 front unless you just have to have the dual headlights (which I did). I guess if you sand better than me go for it (this was my first fiberglass/bondo mod) but isnt it all for the fun of doing it ???

Yes, just thought i should warn plp about the loose fit of the R6 shock before they tried this. I know suproses like those are part of modding, but it kinda agravated me that someone did this and forgot to mention something as important as this. I would have been prepared and not hack up a remedy with spare parts. Now i have to go and buy better bolts and a caliper to measure the thickness diference of the shocks upper joint and get adecuate spacers for it and take down and re atach the shock..... in my extremely busy schedule = too much time. Ill doit though and post the measurements.

An unexpected side effect of this mod is that now it's hader to put the bike in the center stand. If you havent got the hang of it yet, get it before you do this mod!

Talking Finally swaped.

Finished swaping the FZ6 spring to the R6 shock. Sadly it did not take me 5 mins...... more like 2 hours! Did not have the right tools. Take it from me....if doing this take it to a bike shop for the swapping.

I also aded a spacer on the left side of the bottom joint to make it more sturdy.

Hey JESFZ6R, on what preload do you have your rear at? Im 190pnd and have it on 5 thinking on changing it to 7 so i can take plp on the back seat.

Angry Im finally giving up.

Seems like this MOD keeps asking for modifications. I finally found a good setting for solo riding but is completelly sucks for 2 up riding. And the 2 up riding setting sucks for solo riding. It seems that the R6 spring is too soft and the FZ6 is too hard and gives SAG problems. If im going to buy a new spring (who knows what rating!!!) id just buy an after market shock for the FZ6 and get this over with. Now i have to go trough the whole proces of putting the original FZ6 back up.

PLP.....save the money.....get a nice ohlins....and spare your frame. I think that the part that was dremmled IS a stress suporting part. Eigther way this MOD has become to high risk. For me it's not worth it. Peace of mind is much more important than being able o go trough a twisty at 70mph. Besides if i wanted to keep doing this i should of bought a full sport bike.

My two euros. (They are worth more than the dollar. )

You mean the Z6 spring on the R6 shock is too hard correct?

Sorry to hear of the complications along with the mod FAZtER. Bums me out just hearing of the wasted time. You took one for the team and thus I thank you. Good luck with the reassembly.
