turbo FZ6

OK, i have a 2002 VW GTI... it turbo, wll i have about 6000$ put under the hood with e bigge rturbo and what not...

im looking at maybe doing a custom turbo kit for my FZ6... only reason for this is that it is a naked bike and my stock Ko3s turbo would fit well under the FZ6... i think it would be kinda cool... bikes fuel injected as everyone knows so it would be sweet i think... relatively easy to do as well... i have all resources needed as well...

what do you guys think? stupid? cool?

I love gravel

as for it being easy i will say no...might sound easy on paper but thats it
the engine is not designed for boost....you would need many custom parts
your looking at alot of time and thousands of dollars ...and it might not make
any usable power plus it would add tons of weight ....and will offset the balance of the bike....i would say the bike is fast enough for a 600cc

but coming from building up a supra ...i would say it would be neat to see one...and it would sound badass ....hearing turbos spool up on a bike...
so if you have the money ...and motors to blow ....then do it.....

man it scares me to think of the parts list to do it
everything on the bike would need changed ...
a standalone computer would be a must ...
larger injecters
lower compression on engine
custom headers , turbos , wastegates, bov's,
larger cooling system ...
custom brackets out the ass
new intake design
a clutch strong enough to hold to power
oil return lines....
new cams...ahhhh
it hurts my brain...to think about it...the list goes on
just spray the batch.....havent seen n2o on a fz6 yet.....

Might not be as hard as you think.
A PCIII will do for tuning (unless I'm mistaken, our bike is mapped only off of throttle position and RPM)
The stock injectors would probably work for low boost, otherwise, I'd assume R1 injectors would work.
Stock clutch could probably hold the power if you're not being stupid with it.
Stock cams are fine for low boost.

Custom header and turbo/airbox would be needed, BOV not needed for low boost necessarily. I say go for it, I have a buddy with a turbo GSXR600 and its pretty cool. (he's on his 2nd motor though)

Wouldn't a turbo from a 1.8L VW be a little hard for a little short stroke 600 to spool? I'd think you'd want a turbo designed more specifically for our engine. That said it'd be cool, and a good way to have insane HP as not loose out on the comfort of the FZ6...

If you've got the time and $$$ I say go for it!

I'd say do it if you're looking for a project and the bragging rights associated with building a turbo bike. If you're looking for actualy performance gains, I think you'll be disappointed at what you spent, and the negative effect on handling when the guy on the R1 wheelies past you in the twisties, for less than you've spent on your bike...

Fun? Yes. Practical? No. Useful? Hardly! Way cool? Hellz yeah.

+1 to what they all said. If you're bored and have lots of cash and time to waste, go for it. If you want more out of the FZ6, get a FZ1 or R1 (I've seen somewhere a turboed up FZ1, but I can't find any links-- IIRC the guy who did that was trying to sell it. Didn't turn out as awesome as he expected? I don't know...).

Hell yeah....do it cause you can. Im courious. I would realy like to know if it can be done. Just remeber to take pics and share!

There is a video of an R1 with a turbo installed on it. The turbo turned it into a 150mph pogostick and the guy couldnt keep the front end down. Its worth looking at if you can find it. I think i saw in on "streetfire.net"
