FZ1 For the rider who likes sportbike performance but prefers more comfortable ergonomics. The FZ1 offers a more traditional upright seating position, yet sacrifices nothing in terms of engine and handling performance.

Default HighWay Pegs

I'm going to Indy for the MotoGP and I need to put some pegs on the bike. I have seen others use the mounting bolts on the front of the engine.

Anyone know where to get the adapter to mount to this spot and what pegs I should get? ANY help is appreciated. With FZ1OA down, I need some help before its time to go.

Thanks. J

Here is what I picked up today. Drag Specialties Part #DS-252990 Decription XL chrome passenger foot pegs mounts 83-00 they were about 30.00 bucks and they give me a free set of stock HD passenger pegs black but they still say Harley LOL. I am not much for the chrome but you really don't see it, the supplied bolt for mounting to the motor is a little small but they tightened up fine. I have a good friend with a Machine Shop at his house I am going to take them back off and see if he can cut me some about 1/2 inch longer and with the correct bolt size for the holes in the motor. The reason for 1/2 inch is so that in case of a tip over they will fold away. The way they are mounted now they will fold about half way but with some additional length I can fold them out of the way totally. If he can make these I will see what he will charge for about 10 pair and see how they will sale. If he can get them done I have another friend that powder coats so they will go over to him before I install them. The set up I have now will work and do not look bad at all you dint even notice the pegs since they blend in well to the motor. This will work for a quick install. Sorry I don't have any picks I just bought my first digital Camera and still trying to figure out how to post picks but I will get some in a few days. Install was about 10 minutes

This is what I ended up using for pegs. I got them at the local H-D store. Part number 49144-86. I also bought a 3 inch bolt 3/8 24 count thread and an 3/8 aluminum sleeve from Lowes. I cut the sleeve to 2 inches. I also put a lock washer between the end of the bolt and the inside of the mount.

They feel sturdy and strong, but I feel like they would sheer off if I went down. (Which is what I want)

Total cost: about 35$

It looks like the highway pegs worked out on the Gen 2, does anyone have any ideas for a Gen 1? I've been trying to find something for a long time with no luck.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!
David

Is the frame similar to the 1st Gen FZ1? If so, I have a suggestion.

Unfortunately, no. The Gen 1 frame, is a cage frame, unlike the Gen 2 where the motor hangs from the frame. I will see if I can post a picture of it, give me a few minutes to get them to an online url.
Thanks!
David

I mean are the frames similar on both the 1st Gen FZ1 and the 1st Gen FZ6.

You could utilize those lower forward engine mounting bolts to do something like this:
