Need some jeep help, please!!!
Hey guys, I hydrolocked my jeep yesterday and threw some rods out the side of the oil pan. I need a new motor now. If you know anyone with a 4.0l jeep motor between 1999-2005, let me know. I guess I'll be riding the bike to work from now until I get it fixed. As long as my chain holds up I guess.

Thanks Tina, I've still got the truck, but that's Jacs DD. My problem is finding a motor for under a grand that will work.
I've called a lot of the places that Noah suggested, but most of the engines are too old. The 98 and older motors have a different crank that has less teeth for the crank sensor which is why I can't use them.

Looks like just the oil pan. Pull the motor and rebuild it yourself. Get the Hayes Manual and go. Might just as well give it a few extra ponies while your at it. That would be what I would do. Cheaper also. Plus a fresh motor.

It may be cheaper to fix it. One connecting rod, bearing, gaskets, etc. is probably a few hundred dollars. You can get a new oil pan aftermarket fairly cheap. Unfortunately, you gotta tear it apart to see if the crank, block, or any other connecting rods and /or pistons are damaged. Might be worth at least tearing it down.

I don't need the Hayes manual, I already have all of the factory service manuals on it. I would just rebuild it, but I haven't been able to find a rebuild kit anywhere that includes all of the stuff I'll need. I'm sure I'm going to need at least a couple rods and maybe a crank because it is locked right now. We'll see though. I think I'm going to pick up a junkyard motor and stroke this one to a 4.7L later.

LKQ Online is listing an OEM 4.0L I-6 fuel injected gasoline engine, including oil pan, removed from a 1999 Jeep Wrangler. This engine has only 6k miles and is in good, clean condition and ready to ship, but does not include intake & exhaust manifolds nor other accessories. You are protected by LKQ Online's engine warranty as described.
Neither are new enough, the crank has less teeth for the position sensor

Ok, I'll give it up. I went out with a friend to a local trail area. Came around a corner a little too fast and went straight into a water hole about 2 feet deep. My speed caused a wave in front of me that came up and into my intake. Rig died immediately and I towed it back home with the Chevy.
