Default MotoGP is coming to the US twice in 2008

And the second one will have all three GP classes...

http://www.cyclenews.com/ShowStory.asp?HeadlineID=11047

Indianapolis Motor Speedway will host a round of the 2008 MotoGP World Championship, with all three World Championship classes expected to take part.

The announcement of the race, set for Sept. 14, 2008, will be made July 16 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

A press release issued by the Speedway stated, “Please join us at 3:30 p.m. (local time) Monday, July 16 as motorsports history is made during an announcement in the Plaza Pavilion at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”

It’s expected the announcement will come just days before the release of the provisional 2008 MotoGP World Championship calendar.

Earlier this month the race was confirmed by a Dorna official, who said it was only a matter of timing on the announcement.

With the U.S. hosting a second MotoGP round, the calendar would expand to 19 races, unless a race gets dropped. It was originally believed that China would leave the calendar, but more recent indications are that the Turkish GP won’t return.

With IMS expected to host all three classes, it leaves little room for the AMA Superbike Championship. AMA officials have said the 2008 calendar will look similar to this year's. But there may be a shift in dates. The Sept. 14 IMS MotoGP date could conflict with the AMA's stand-alone date at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
