Best city in Florida and why
I am currently trying to think of places to move. I live in Fort Lauderdale and to put it nicely I hate it. I am looking for a place that has good weather and a good economy. So whats your vote for best city in Florida?

Just keep heading north. South Florida prolly West Palm and down are totally overrun...too many ethnics and too many people for me. It's all going to work it's way north, but you should be able to get 20 years out of it before that happens.

I'd have to agree. I live in Plant City (just east of Tampa) It's far enough away from the city to be quasi-calm but not so far away that its a hassle to go into for something. Coming from SE Alabama this is the best of both worlds.

Jacksonville. Good places to ride, nice weather, close to Jennings and we have a strong growing economy.

I vote for either Lakeland or Bartow. Kind of biased to Bartow cause it's close enough to Tampa/Orlando for the big city fun, and small enough that anywhere in town you're going is 5 minutes away. Plus, Lakeland is 10 minutes away if you want movies, better food, etc.
My two cents.

Sorry, I have to go get my sides sewn back up from laughing so god damn hard.
To find a good answer to this question, you need to check out some "official" surveys for job markets, etc. Then narrow that down and visit the cities.
You aren't going to find out anything by posting here. Everyone thinks they either live in the best city or they can't wait to leave. For example: how many other cities in FL has Bobby lived in?
Opinions are like assholes, especially on a topic like this.

To the person who spoke about the "ethnics" I am a "ethnic" so that doesn't really bother me to much. hope you get over your phobia of other cultures though.
I want a big city though to be honest folks. I am from NYC originally and don't mind big cities at all. But dispite what people who have never lived in a true big city may think big city people are not any where as rude or ignorant as your average south floridian. I have been to NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Tampa, Orlando, Clearwater, DC, on and on and on and I have never met people as rude and disguisting as they are in south florida. I don't know what it is about this place. Eitherway I guess I will have to do what corvette said and look up statistics and then do some site seeing. That actually crossed my mind to day after I posted this. I wouldn't mind going back to new york but its so freaking expensive and you don't have the year round riding aspect either. Chicago is one of my favorite cities but again the whole riding season and a few other personal factors keeps me from there. Texas I loved the people but hated how flat and just blah everything was. I love South Carolina specifically the low country but darn if their economy doesn't suck! Atlanta I hated and didn't see what the big whoop was about the place.
Anywayz thx for the replies I will just ahve to take the family on some visits.

Florida as a whole has had good economic growth the last few years compared to other states. Your specific career is obviously going to be a factor. Most of the central and northern cities are seeing rapid growth which also means a rapid increase in housing costs. I live in the Tampa area and have spent quite a bit of time in Jacksonville and Orlando. I despise the commuting conditions in Orlando, but Jacksonville makes it look like the wide open Autobahn. Tampa isn't bad but it is quickly outgrowing the capacity of the current road structure. I like the Lakeland area and some the Brooksville areas myself. Unfortunately with the current growth, all of them will probably become traffic nightmares in the next 5 years or so.
