I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, bro R.I.P Maurice, and my deepest thoughts and prayers are with you and his family and friends. Keep your head up, and remember he's in a better place, riding the heavenly twisties without a worry in mind.
I hear ya on toning it down a notch, as I've been through the same thing myself. After losing 4 friends and riding buddies in 11 months to MC wrecks (3 in 2006, 1 so far in 2007), you can bet I've toned it down a notch or two. When I first started riding I was zooming all over the place, and luckily nothing ever happened. After seeing what I have, and some serious rethinking about some of the decisions I make, I decided it's just not worth it... don't want to put my family and friends though the kind of pain I've seen firsthand. Kinda puts things into perspective, I guess. Now I just go slow and steady and enjoy the ride. If I want to ride balls to the wall, I'll go to the track
God bless...

Here's a reminder for us all. We must ALWAYS remember to allow for others possible mistakes, as well as our own. Any chance, is better than none.
The most important thing being the ability to think of the potential ramifications of our mistakes on our fellow road users, and allowing for a safety margin. Who would want to have to spend the rest of their days remembering that their foolish mistake cost another person their life......
My thoughts are with all of Maurice's friends and family, these are never easy days.

Small Update that I thought everyone should see, so I'm pasting this on my other forums as well. After the service this morning and speaking with the family and friends, I got on the 5 south to head over to my work for a few minutes, and ironically and eerily enough the freeway was all backed up, I got one more exit down the way and it's none other than a totalled sportbike lying on the ground. It looked to be either a black Honda or Yamaha, but it was difficult to completely tell. The rider was laying on the embankment on the side of the freeway with his helmet still on surrounded by people who had pulled over, luckily his head was up and he appeared to be moving around and "okay" whatever that condition may have been, he was alive at least.
I can't even begin to describe how this made me feel seeing that so soon after everything with my friend Maurice. I could hardly look, it made me want to cry, I'm just glad the guy was okay, he appeared to be a marine by the camo pants he had on, so if this was anyone you guys know, please tell him I hope he's okay, he should consider himself lucky. Yet another recent incident to remind everyone to be careful out there. I don't know who's fault this was or how it happened, but just remember, get on that bike and enjoy it, but respect the hell out of it to, sometimes I think we don't realize what a big risk we take on our toys.
If anything in the past two days I've seen how connected all of us are to one another. We're a small minority of the population who shares a common interest in something truly breathtaking and great, and at the same time extremely dangerous and out of our control sometimes. The fact that riders wave at one another when they go by each other shows that connection if you ask me. Please again, stay safe out there, always be mindful of your surroundings, and I'll see you on the road.
Some of you may have already seen this, but I know others were curious about any newspaper articles or obituaries regarding Maurice's accident. This is what we've seen on my end so far....
Thanks for posting this, and I am very sorry to hear about your friend. It is incidents like this that show us how fast everything can change. One moment your blasting down the road having fun, and then tragedy can stike wihout any warning. Lives are changed instanly, let this be another reminder to us all to ride safe.
RIP
