I know a lot of sportbike guys are curious and some of you have expressed interest in the Road America Supermoto Schools, here's your chance to win a FREE Class for 2010. The people at RA have given Chicagoland Supermoto two free SM Demo Courses to give away in a drawing. This is basically a 2 hour intro to SM on one of Road America's DR-Z400SM bikes.

All you need to do to enter is post in this thread:

Anyone watch the TT races this weekend on Speed?

I'm in awe.

Look I've seen there races before and it was great, but it hit me this weekend that these guys have balls of Ubotanium.

You wreck there at the speeds those guys are going and you're dead. < That's a period.

No infield hospital, no sliding in the marbles, get up, brush the dust off and get back into the race. You hit one of those ancient stone walls at 130+ and you're in pieces. Dead pieces.

WOW!

Those guys are brave as hell.

OR crazy as hell.

Maybe both.

Much respect!

my track day video

Okay so this video needs to be prefaced with two things.

First of all i suck lol, was my first year ever on a bike so my form needs a LOT of work.

Secondly it was a 95 degree day out (thats freaking sweltering for us canadians, i was dieing), this video is taken after an 8 hour track day. I was taking a race class run by one of the local club racers, we had our own session out there and they gave us an extra session at the end of the day, so i was beyond dead and getting really sloppy.

So the video is me following behind one of the instructors on his race prepped bike. I could sit and pick apart everything i was doing wrong, because my lines are pretty bad ( late apex late apex late apex), but past that its still a pretty cool video.

Tires and Pucks

Just an interesting observation about my riding on Sunday.

No question I was much faster then I was last time out a few weeks ago on the same track. I was really driving hard out of the corners and using up much more track and rumble strips. Faster lines and much smoother on the controls. In the zone so to speak.

But - I didn't use up as much of the tire edge as I have done in the past, and also only put my knee down a handful of times all day. Not that it is an issue or an indicator, but I'm used to touching on some turns almost every lap.
I did move from a 180 to a 190 (Dunlop GPA's) but it is very obvious from looking at the tire I had a lot more lean angle to use.

Hmmmmm

Plans for 2010?

Anyone's plans for next season starting to come together? I'm wondering if I'm gonna meet any sportbike.net members at the track next year. I think I caught fleeting glimpses of a member or two this year, but no solid meetings :(

Anyway, I've got some big plans on the drawing board.... Can't wait.

So far I consider myself pretty much locked in on racing the Loudon Road Racing Series and instructing for Tony's Track days.
Not sure exactly which events I'll be doing, but here's the schedules for those orgs... If you're there, chances are I am too.

2010 LRRS Schedule:
April 24-25
May 15-16
May 29-30
June 11-13 Classic with ASRA
July 17-18
August 7-8
September 4-5
October 2-3

2010 Tony's Track Days Schedule (So far)
May 2,3 (Thunderbolt NJMP) Sun / Mon
May 12 (NHMS) Wednesday
June 15,16 (NH) Tue / Wed
June 27,28 (NJ) Sun / Mon
July 19,20 (NH) Mon / Tue
Aug 9,10 (NH) Mon / Tue
Aug 30,31 (NJ) Mon / Tue
Sept 19,20 (NJ) Sun / Mon (tentative)
Oct 5, 6 (NH) Tue / Wed

I'm also hoping to do some ASRA racing as well if things work out with sponsorship... maybe some ASRA Team Challenges along with my ECK Racing teammates.

I was also approached last night about the possibility of teaming up with a couple of guys outside of ECK Racing to do the 8 Hours of Daytona race at the end of the year.

So yeah... Anyone gonna be joining me at any of those events?

Even if you're not, what are your plans for next year?
