Their new stuff is really nice

Racing. I like it a lot

This is pretty cool looking (Retro)

Jury is still out on this one (Freddy).

I love brown jackets. And I am almost certainly getting this jacket next (uinless I get the Racing) but I have to buy it in black. I have too many brown jackets as it is

They finally wised up and gave this jacket a zipper to attach pants. This has now jumped back to the top of my list for summer jackets. Plus its a lot cheaper than the Santa Monica

First time jacket shopping and this brand seems to fit me well (I am on the round side). Any reason not to pick up one of their Textile jackets, specifically the FSX Series 2. Its reasonably comfortable, seems to have nice protection, and doesn't make me look like some fat Icon-clad squid. I like the zip-out liners being in the NE where weather changes often. Any other ideas for something for the portly set?

I was wondering if someone can help me out.

I read somewhere while i was researching about the safety of gear....

That the "main zipper" of a suit or jacket should have a flap on the OUTSIDE to cover it, incase you land on the pavement on your stomach it will protect the zippers from coming apart. There should also be a flap behind the zippers to prevent wind from coming through and also to protect you from being scraped.

However, I can't seem to recall where i read this, and wanted to reverify what i'm "thinking of above" is true.

So this weekend I took my first long distance ride, from NW Arkansas to Dallas, a 5.5 hr ride. Overall I was pretty comfortable, a little sore of course, and cold riding in, also my forearms and wrists were somewhat sore. I expected most of this - as I'm a new rider.

I've looked and read about some accessories here, and am curious if you guys (and gals) think these things are really worth getting, I'm not worried about cost, but don't want to buy stuff, that'll just sit in the back of the garage collecting dust.

1. Vibration reducing bars: http://hvmp.com/yamaha.htm or http://www.throttlemeister.com/
2. Soft grips and crampbusters: Street Bike Grips Handlebars-Controls Accessories Viewing All Available Items - Motorcycle Superstore

Also, anything else you think may be worth looking into.

Thanks!

Waterproof gloves - do they exist?

So my last sport touring ride ended up as a shower, and everyone's gear got drenched.

Aside from the fact that the TM Caliber pants are *not* waterproof despite the fact they advertise them as being :twofinger, I found that gloves were the biggest pain. Gloves add bulk just wearing them, but add wet and cold and it makes for little dexterity and lots of aggravation.

One thing I found is that water actually ran down my jacket sleeves in the heavier downpours, and under the gauntlet of my gloves, then on down into the fingers. I tried putting the gloves on, then the jacket but the gloves were too bulky to fit through the wrist holes (the gloves were insulated, so a decent bit of bulk). I don't see how you could get around that problem even with waterproof gloves. How do you keep water from running down your arms into the gloves?

I am thinking of just buying thin neoprene gloves and wearing them as liners. If nothing else, they should keep the damp away, and add some warmth...

*PRICE=$275.00.* This Jacket retails for $400. I had just purchased it about halfway through this past September. Only worn three or four times, it is still in PERFECT condition. The only reason for selling is that it does not fit me, i need to purchase another size. Excellent for sumemr riding without the liner and plenty warm for fall riding with it. All leather jacket, it is a mens size 42 with an adjustable waist. Camera is broken so i do not have pictures at the time, a link to the manufacturers website is posted below if you wish to see what the jacket looks like. Contact me any time of the day at (716) 949-1923. Will meet for local transactions near Buffalo as well as accept money order if buyer wishes to have the jacket shipped.

The difference between the jackets is that the Stinger is fully perforated while the Sport is only perforated on the side panels.

For New York, what do you think I should get? Since it does get hot and cold (and I want one leather jacket - no mesh), is the Stinger more versatile or it doesn't matter that much?

I also want to get riding boots, does anyone have recommendations? They'll be used for city riding and they need to be comfortable to walk around in.

Also, do I really need riding pants? Or will knee guards with regular jeans be enough?

Thanks in advance!

Trouble riding in full gear?

I just picked up some boots today - Teknic Chicane's. They're good for what i'm looking to use them for.
I've also got Alpinestars Mx-1 2 piece suit

I haven't ridden with the pants on till today when I went for a spin with both the boots pants jacket etc.
I had a lot of difficulty maneuvering anything with this stuff on, I could NOT get the bike to shift into 3rd gear it felt like, no matter how hard I tried, i'd have to adjust my foot somehow and click it up differently.
This kept my focus on my feet and not on the road, and I didn't really get used to it.
Same thing with the pants, they're comfy and all, even though they weigh a ton which i'm just not used to yet either.
I felt like I was floating on top of my bike, except stuck in one position, it felt impossible to lean or move my legs at all in any direction.

Is this normal?? I felt like I'd never ridden a bike before, it was dangerous. I went about 25 miles out and then headed back to change back into my jeans and yes, shoes.
I felt like if I didn't f up shifting and lock up my rear tire from mis-up-shifting, that i'd fall off my bike from these damn boots getting caught on something.
Do I just need to break this stuff in? The pants are second-hand so i'd figured they'd be broken in, the boots are new.

Does it all just wear in and feel normal after awhile?

Wind shells

I'm in the market for a lightweight wind 'breaker.' Not the typical oversized kind, but something along the lines of this: REI OXT Fleet Jacket - Men's at REI.com The material is thin enough for me to be able to throw it under the seat if it gets too warm.

Does anyone use something like this to put over the leathers?

Any other ideas? I'm weighing the options, because in my mind, the piece of nylon listed above isn't worth 50 bucks when I can get a full-coverage RS-Taichi rain suit for a little more.
