Default Lojack or Alarm

I just got a new duc 749. Great bike btw! In addition to the factory anti-theft from duc, I have a Kryto NY lock and a braided that I anchor to a disk lock (i'm a little anal b/c i got my cbr stolen last year!). I purchaed Lojack, but the dealer hasn't installed yet. However, I've contemplating getting an alarm instead. Don't get me wrong, Lojack is a good product. But, Lojack is theft recovery system , not a theft deterrent. And, I'm not sure I'd want my bike back after it's been stolen. What do you guys think? And, what alarms do like?

i dunno, I had my FZR stolen a few weeks ago. It really makes life suck ass. Wish I had thought about how often bikes are stolen - i just figured it would never happen to me.

From what I've read about Lojack is that the police force must be equipped to track the lojack's. I have no idea how many of the police forces have this equipment. It would be nice to find the people who stole your bike. but just think - say they steal it and mess it up, then you find it with lojack. you get the bike back, but it's fucked up. Is insurance going to pay for the damage they did to your recovered bike?? I dunno.

anyone have info on Lojack vs guidepoint or other tracking systems??

Around here, only a few larger PD's have Lojack equipped vehicles, and very few of the Sheriff's Office vehicles have them. I dont have Lojack, i have the Scoripio alarm, which i love.

Its apples to oranges IMO. Alarms are great for theft deterrent, but not theft proof. I had 2 good riding buddies who had Gix1k's stolen from their apartment complex altho they had Scorpio alarms. Lojack is good for tracking your bike, and now they have the new Lojack with the paging feature that notifies you if your bike is moved (kinda like a Scorpio).

depends where you live. If you live in a good area and have a garage, your bike is probably safe even without an alarm. If you live in a ghetto area w/ no garage, a combination of Alarm, chain, brake lock would be best.
