A guy I work with has a 85 750 SS. He's the original owner. it has less than 300 miles on it. I was actually considering making a offer but it's a single seater and the wife rides too much to allow that to ever happen. It needs alittle love but nothing major.
consider a honda superhawk, they're more powerful, reliable, less expensive to maintain,1000x easier to get service when "out in the middle of nowhere",parts are abundant, & wet weight is possibly lighter.
IF you have always felt you needed to own a ducati, give a superhawk that's been set up, a try. it's a much better platform & sounds fantastic......
i will someday own a ducati, as i've been interested since their 888 & on bikes came to america, that's when their style really got my attention. 916 was the ONE for me, w/1098 new styling & improved engine maint. schedule etc, i may just have to live that dream.......ie. get what you 'want' cause life is short. from months of research before going w/honda, to the 30k+ miles of no issues @ all; i've continually been impressed w/my choice.

2 of my Ducs have over 30k on them (1 a 4v and 1 a 2v), and I ride with 3 guys here in San Diego who have over 98k on their bikes with no issues and original motors.
Also the Superhawk is not lighter than the little Duc.
423.3 for the Superhawk
399 for the SS

Yep, I got one of those stupid Minicities too. Click if you dont mind.
for that model of 750SS, i'd say that is in the right range. that is an FI model and they are very well done mechanically. the engine is nearly identical to the 900ss model, just a shorter stroker crank and smaller pistons, but i believe it's the same Marelli EFI system. if you are ok with the looks (many ppl don' tlike them) then it may be a good deal, depending on the overall condition and service history.
could be a good candidate for a track bike, but you'd need to supe it up.
PLENTY of aftermarket mods available for it. if its in good shape, i would still try to get it down around 3500 but that's probably the LOW range of value for that bike.
