Default Duc's Valves and Maintenance

Hello, as you might see I'm new here although not new to riding. I am looking at buying a S4Rs ( My first DUC ) and was wondering how hard is it to adjust the valves and generally how much it is to have someone else do it. I'm a mechanic so I know my way around a tool box, but would I be getting myself into trouble? I love that bike.... it's rolling art in my book...I just need to know what I'm getting myself into. Thank you for any and all information. If anyone has an excert from a maintenance manual, that would be perfect.

Thanks again

The same principles apply I'm sure, just more work. Haynes makes a 4V manual if you want to pick it up.

Except that the S4RS uses the Deep Sump Testastretta engine. The valves are checked and adjusted abit differently than the other Desmo bikes.

Id figure about $250-300 for adjusting the valves where as a full service from the dealer would run in the neighborhood of $600-700.

Not an impossible feat but certainly a daunting task if you have never had ne apart before.

if you are mechanically sharp no problem.if not let a pro do it. i have raced cars for years and adjusted valves so the concept was not new and i had no problem.
