Default Hard Shifting on Monster

My girfriends 02 Monster 750 has developed a very hard shift in or out of first and second gear. Third is easier, fourth and fifth no problem.

We changed oil and filter ( K&N filter, Mobil One VTwin) last week and then road 350 miles to Laconia. The shift problem started as we decended the Vermont mountains on the way home, about 800 miles after the oil change; I am not sure if that has anything to do with the problem or not.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Paul

Check the clutch slave cylinder for leak. Stock slaves are notorious leakers and you should consider an Evoluzione or yoyodyne aftermarket slave. Or try ebay for a replacement stocker but it may leak.

That should be easy enough to determine and if it seems clean, you can't go wrong bleeding the clutch (at the slave and at the master). Should help things right away.
