Looking at a 916

Alright... the 916 has always been one of the bikes on my list that I'd like to add to the stable.

I'm going to look at at 916 Monoposto this weekend. It's all stock with 25k miles. I know it's got a crack in a side fairing, but not from a crash... it was tipped over. I've seen it on the street before and it's in decent condition... it could use a good cleaning and a wax.

What would be a good price for it?

Any things I should look for or ask? I'm going to ask for any service records, but anything else?

Not much help here, but my father-in-law bought his '95 916 with 12k on it for $8000 4 years ago. It was (and still is) in perfect showroom condition.

I'd just go over that service record with a fine toothed comb. I would be hopeful that he had it serviced at an authorized Duc shop... There's a lot of maintenance that needs to be done at the 24k mark.

maintenance records for the duc. would be a must for me. I don't know how much the run in your area but you might check out cycletrader and see how much other 916's are going for in your area.

prefer mono, but will consider Biposto
Prefer stock but will consider mods
No rebuilds, no junk
Prefer in my area from Atlanta to Miami for pick up and so that I can see it in person

If anyone knows of one and can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
