Default Got a new best yesterday

I went to the local drag strip to see how much my full Hindle would help me out. My previous best was a 10.71 @ 132 mph. Last night my best time was a 10.56 @ 136 mph. I pretty happy with those times. I did borrow a strap from my buddy for the front end and did seem to help out some but I'm really impressed with the mph.

Cool man. 10.5's are cooking and 136 is fast too.

I had a similar experience yesterday. I have gone 11.45 at 123 but yesterday I put on some lowering links and strapped it and went 10.94 at 126.

What kind of 60 foot times did you see? I had a best of 1.96 before but managed 1.71 yesterday. That's really were you're going to make time.

Riding it lowered wasn't a problem but I did have a little scraping of the footpeg around one turn. I was down about 2 inches. The thing looked awesome sitting like that but, I like the corners too much and raised it back up for the backroads today.

I think the trick with drag racing a bike is to launch at or near the rev limiter. Scary stuff but that appears to be how it's done. Then it's all a matter of clutching it. My best run came leaving at 10,000 RPM.

My best with the front lowered was a 1.71 but I only went 10.57 on that run. I cut a 1.83 on my 10.56 run. My bike is also lowered a little over a inch. in the back.

Nice pass!

What is your front fender to under fairing clearance when strapped?

I'm not to sure but it defintally could have been a little lower. I would say 2 1/2 -3 inches. from the ground. I read your post wrong thats the measeurment from the ground to the fairing.

good job, I went out about 2 weeks ago and hit my best also. It was 15.23 but my previous was 15.4 and when I started a year ago It was 16.1 so I'm happy. I love the cold air late in the season. I am trying to figure a way to strap the front on mine but its hard with single disk brake on the front. Then I could launch at redline and get my sixty footers below 2.2

No Worries!

This plays along with the very same safety conversation that Keith Kizer (AMA Prostar CEO) & I had on the telephone two weeks prior. In the recent past, the minimum clearance was to be no less than 2" of travel or 2" from surface to surface.

AMA Prostar will be changing their Rule Book to require a 3" minimum for rider safety reasons. I concur with this change. The 3" requirement will provide that additional inch in the event that the bike rises too quickly resulting in the rider slamming the front end to the ground.

I would set it to a 3" minimum then adjust your suspension settings front and rear to achieve your safest and best launch from the line.

Best Wishes!

No Worries

That is why I am here. To give what knowledge I can so that you can participate safely at a track versus illegally racing on the streets.

As for being a beginner........We all have that rung of the ladder to step. The best thing that you can do as a beginner track rider is listen openly with those that have your best interest. That being, your safety as well as providing you with the required technical knowledge so that you are aware not only on the strip, but more importantly a consciencious rider while on the street.

Keep me posted on your progress if you will.

Hi,

Could you give me some details on your launching technique for your 954? What RPM did you take off at and for how long were you slipping the clutch? What RPM did you shift at?

Thanks,
Franc
