Depends on what MPH you think you will turn at the line. NHRA Rules require full-leathers at 120mph or faster. As for running against a car, it will be entirely up to the track with the "bike vs. car" match.
Enjoy!

The two 1/4 mile tracks I frequent only require a helmet and jacket, and 1 of the 2 requires gloves....for test and tune anyway. For big events, you must go by the NHRA or IHRA rules for racing (one of the tracks I go to is NHRA, other is IHRA).
I've never been to any track that will let a bike run against a car. Closest thing for me was I got paired up a a Banshee 4 wheeler.
Regardless, unless those 4 banger cars are nitrous'd, or turbo'd, you'll win....unless you suck at drag racing. ;)

Rialto Airport Raceway (before City/FAA closure) would allow "car vs. bike" in "King of the Hill" racing. The racing was ET so it was up to the racer, not the machine.
There are tracks that may allow this. Track rules, Sanctioning Body rules as well as the track insurance finally dictates whether or not this "car vs. bike" racing will go off-the-line in the first place. Although, I prefer "bike vs. bike" down the strip.
As for the gear, I would follow the NHRA or IHRA rules regardless whether or not the track adheres to sanctioning rules. Rider safety is paramount!
Enjoy!

You should run mid 11's so unless one of your friends has an EVO with $5k-$10k into it and some race gas you'll be alright. If your talking civics they better have ALOT of money into those things along with some race gas and drag slicks.

They'll all be lucky to be running in the 14s, I would expect 15s or 16s for the tC and mustang if they aren't great 1/4 drivers. If the eclipses are mostly stock they'll be in the 14s too.

Is this race going to be "heads-up" or "dial-in"?
If the race is an ET (dial-in) race it really doesn't matter who has what.
Enjoy!
P.S. Get video!

Jammin Johnny - Never realized that some tracks would actually allow car vs. bike races. Even if the ones here did allow it, I doubt I'd try it against any cars that are actually fast. Can you imagine a 10 second car losing traction and ending up in your lane? Screw that.
Also, can you direct me to the IHRA/NHRA rules for motorcycle racing? Or post them up?

Like said before the 3 tracks I have been to only allow bikes and cars during the gamblers race. Although once I got to race a car because it was the last run of the night and I was the only bike left. It's the only thing I've beat with my 15.2 second honda shadow! They also require jacket, gloves, full face helmet, over the ankle boots, and one requires full leathers when trapping over 120.

Some do.......Matter of fact one of my best friends lost by .003 against a 10 second Camaro in the finals at a local race event. The car out-of-control scenario is a scary one and the prime reason as to why most tracks do not race "car vs. bike".
As for the rules.........I will be back and post the info.

Just compare time slips. I don't think you can race against a car and it wouldn't be a safe move anyway.
When you beat him you can make photo copies of your timeslip and post them on his car.
