back from the drag strip
Went 12.47 @ 107.59. 60 ft was 2.12. Previous best was 12.56 @ 107.78. Haven't changed anything on the bike since the last time about a month ago. Temps were close (within 5 degrees) to the same as previous. Different drag strip than before as well, but excellent hook at this one too.
Only thing i did different was ride 1st gear more aggresively. Front end came up ~2 - 3 inches, but yielded better times than before. I'm very pleased with what the bike has turned...now if i can just get me a strap, i'm convinced i can drop a couple more tenths easy.

Didn't want to run others away. I felt some time between as best.
Definite improvement in times. Don't you love those "floater" wheelies. Under power and under control!
Keep up the good work!

Yes the floater wheelies are awesome....doesn't really even feel like a wheelie, 'cept that moving the bars does nothing for which direction you go. heh.
I think i may have been able to get 12.30's out of it yesterday, but was only able to get in 3 runs, one of which i screwed up on. Slipped the clutch WAY to much and got a 12.6x, but with higher mph than the other 2 passes. Now i see what you mean about wheel spin gives higher mph. I need more practice.

No worries.
Just keep it going. As for the floater wheelies, our ZX6 with the 15/57 gearing combo would float the front 1st - 3rd and nearly 4th. The launch was the most difficult with that gearing package.
Wheel spin = higher MPH
Perfect launch = Perfect / Near perfect run (providing all else is done well)

15/57???
How do you even launch something with that gearing??? I'd imagine wheel spin or looping it would be way to easy for me.

Proper suspension/geometry set-up, compound and pressure choices, competent rider and knowing the ride.
EDIT: It all comes in time.

Heh...i guess it all comes with experience.
Racing cars became very easy to me with time as well. I dragged cars/trucks for around 5 years or so and became better than all my friends i raced with. Always had fun running their cars 2 - 3 tenths quicker than they could. Not trying to brag at all, really. Just hoping I'll get that good with my bike.

Damn! Dragging up my 2 year old post...hah!
The first two times I took the f4i, I went 11.70 @ 121.xx. The most recent (last friday), I sucked, and went 12.0x at 118 or something like that. It was all me on that, as my 60 ft times were suffering.

As of now, the bike has a K&N and a Slip-on. The thought of getting a Power Commander and getting it dyno tuned has crossed my mind, but it's going to be a while before I do that. Lot of riding planned for the year, as well as a 7 day tour in another month, so funds will be limited for a few.
However, I'm planning on getting a new bike this year (Possibly a 'Busa....but who knows). IF I can keep this bike when I get a new one, I very well might turn this one into a drag bike. Engine will probably get bored (to a 636, maybe 650 cc's if the block can handle it), extended arm, and some nitrous as well.
We shall see.

Sounds wicked! Why not keep your bike as the daily rider and use the busa as the drag bitch? eh eh?

I know using the Busa for the daily driver and the f4i for the drag bike sounds counter productive, but...
I do a fair amount of long distance riding and some touring. I've set my f4i up to be capable of it, but it still leaves something to be desired for (more power at lower rpms, hard saddle bags, better wind protection, etc etc). The Busa seems to fit the bill for this nearly as good as it makes for a good drag bike. Since I ride on the street more than I race, I'm making the Busa my street ride.
