Default Went to the strip this weekend

on my 03 SV 650. Ran a 12.56 @ 108. First time i went my best was 12.90 @ 103. Since then, i added a 520 conv. w/14/47 gearing and a M4 slip on. Was very happy with my times, though i believe i can get high 11's if i can bring my 60 ft down to around 1.90. Was doing ~2.20 60's. Would also be nice if i could lose about 75 pounds.

Cool

.44 is a GOOD improvement!

Time to work on the 60'.......... 1.9 should be around 1.75 or so for the grunt of your ride.

I thought so too. Definatly gotta work on the 60. Whenever it decides to warm up, maybe i'll go back and try for 11's.

Metzler Z6 tires (excellent tires btw)
38 psi
temps were about 65f

Traction was no prob. Didn't even have to do a burnout. I got out of the clutch fairly quick, and feathered the throttle in 1st gear for the first ~80 feet.

yeah 38....was doing 36 (recomended), but was wearing flat across a wide area. went up to 38 and narrowed the patch a little, but hasn't seemed to affect traction at all. kinda experimenting with pressures a little still.

Bone stock it went 12.90 @ 103. This was with NOTHING done to it. Then i tried a 14t front sprocket (stock is 15). Bad move. Proceded to run 13.20's at no more than 100. Made the bike a wheelie machine. After doing the 520 conv and M4 is when i finally got it down to my current 12.56 @ 107.78. I really doubt the exhaust helped at all though. I saved nearly 1 pound of rotating weight and that is where i believe my gain came from.

Now if i can just get 11.99 @ 110 i'll give up on draggin the bike.
Not exactly what i bought it for anyway, but...

We use Rennsport RS2's on the ZX6 strip bike, running psi's of 40 front and 25.75 rear and pulling 60's from 1.674 to 1.73, track depending. This on an "all motor" '94 ZX6.

what kind of times are you turning?

as far as tire pressure, i could probably run 60 psi rear and not spin at this track. it's THE stickiest i've ever been to. if you walked it, you'd probably trip due to that your feet would not slide AT ALL. It's like standing in glue. even the 8 second bikes did not spin even the slightest. Bikes with 10+ inches of stretch (damn my spelling right now), were wheeling through the first 2 gears like it was nothing. Not kidding at all.

Best Times:

1/4 11.356 @ 120 1.71 60' 83 degrees
California Dragway

1/8 7.15 @ 101 1.674 60' 60 degrees
Irwindale Drag Strip

I wish the tracks here in Cali would use traction compound like that!!!

What's been done to it? Stretched, lowered, etc?

And yes, the hook from the track is nice. Almost to good though...makes for extremely tricky launches and worse 60 ft times (due to 0 wheel spin and way easy wheelie). I bet i could do better 60's on the street on a bike.

So did you run the 12.56 with the 14 tooth or did you switch back to the 15? You said the 14 slowed you down right?
3 tenths from a 530-520 conversion? Man I have to change mine over. I have an '04 YZF600r and went +2 in the back but kept the 530. Haven't had it to the track yet though.
