Well, 11k is redline on my bike...my sv is a twin, so it's got a lot of low end grunt. I also refuse to slip the clutch forever, as i ride this bike everyday. I have tried that before tho, and not with very good results. The technique (sp?) that worked for me was get out of the clutch asap and give as much throttle as possible, while keeping the front wheel on the ground. And there's no chance of wheel spin at this strip. Like i said earlier in this post, there were bikes there with extended swingarms, doing wheelies in the first 2 to 3 gears without trying....the track hooks that good. At the tree, it's like standing in rubber cement. I was all but sitting on the tank, and too much throttle would cause wheelie.
Also, i'm not really going for good r/t's, just trying to get my times down. I don't drag race often, or even really race...just test and tune type stuff, so being perfect there really doesn't matter. Just out having fun, and trying to get the bike in the 11's without changing streetability (is that a word?).
Next time i go, i'm going to try less fuel, as well as strapping the front down. Hopefully, that'll bring me close, if not into, the 11's.

Sounds like you are having fun while learning as you go. Sounds like the strip is well manicured. I wish California strips paid the same amount of detail to their launch pads as it seems apparent where you TNT.
As for the other bikes pulling wheel into 2 & 3rd gears. This IS NOT uncommon especially with "worked" machines. Remember this, just because a machine is stretched does not mean that it totally negates front wheel rise "under power". The purpose of stretching the wheel base is to "greatly lessen" this from happening.
Hope This Helps

I realize that stretched doesn't mean "won't wheelie", BUT, watching similar bikes at the other drag strip i used to frequent, rather than wheelie, they'd get spin. The track one i've been runnin just plain hooks. Even cars with slicks so small my old honda civic would spin them, were doing wheel stands. The hook at this particular track is just wonderful...at times, almost too much.

Well, through experiences you will have "the Hook, the Spin & the What was that" at the tracks. I thank bowling, yes bowling as a youth to demonstrate fully the absolute need to adjust to the game and the conditions. The game does not adjust to you.
The very same applies here whether your passes are just for fun or in varying levels of drag racing competition. I would literally kiss the ground if I could get, near perfect "stick" conditions everytime the sled went down the strip. It would make gearing, tuning & set-up choices so much more enjoyable.
JOHNNY WOULD BE SMILING FROM EAR TO EAR!

Come to NC and you'll never stop smiling. At the track i normally drag the bike at, I've NEVER EVER been there without the best hook i've ever seen in my life. Everytime i've been there (4 or 5 times in the last year and a half), someone (in cars) has either snapped a axle, or broke a driveshaft/u-joint, mainly because the track hooks that good. I know i've bragged about the hook several times before, but it's damn good. I sware, if you walked it, you'd probably trip over your own 2 feet b/c it's so sticky...like walking on super glue. If you ever come to NC, I'll take you there...even let you run my ride just to show you how good it is.

That would be cool. I'll let ya know if I make it that way. Rockingham huh! It is owned by ISC, the same that owns California Speedway.
If I go to NC...........Where are the good places to stay near the track?

ISC???
Rockingham isn't the sticky one...Fayetteville Motorsports Park is the sticky one. As far as places to stay, come stay in my town (Sanford). It's right in the middle of the 2 drag strips....45 min to Rockingham or Fayetteville. Stay for thurs - sat and you can hit up both of those and maybe a 1/8th mile track about 1.5 hours away. I'm surrounded by strips, but only been to those 2. Including those, there are 4 total within 2 hours of me, 2 more within 3 or so hours, and 1 or 2 more in the state somewhere. NC seems to be loaded with them.
Rockingham seems to be the most popular between the 2 i frequent tho, as they have the most events...Chevy day, Ford day, Mopar day, motorcycle day, import day, and the list goes on... I'm actually thinking about getting half way serious into racing again (but with my bike this time) just b/c Rockingham has about 8 bike only events this year, as well as some car and bike race days...not including the 2 or 3 harley only events. Mainly all i've ever done before is just TnT days, with the occasional bracket races. All the bike events this year have a bracket class, so we will see...
EDIT: If you come stay in Sanford NC, Hampton Inn is a good place to stay. Nice place and not to pricey.

I= International
S= Speedway
C= Corporation
ISC is partly owned by Roger Penske. California Speedway, Rockingham, Daytona and about 9 other tracks in the US are outright owned or partnered with this entity.
Fayetteville sounds as if it rocks! If you have that much traction on that strip.......ROCK ON BROTHERMAN!
Who knows.........If I get a wild hair maybe i'll grow out there. Ooops....GO out there.

lol. come on over. Plenty of room here for a fellow racer/rider. NC is great. Not unusual at all for it to be in the high 70s at times in the winter. In fact, tomorrow is supposed to be like 72, and wednesday is 75ish. I love it.
