Question How Much Can Simple Mods Change Strip Times?

Here we go...........

For those that race at your local drag strip. Can simple modifications or enhancements improve your times, specifically 60' times & ET's?

AND

What tire mods or adjustments, suspension & gearing changes have you done?

Johnny

I voted more then 1-3/10ths...gearing helps alot...from better 60's to better times. tire...dont believe in it...at my track its preped so good I was bogging at 5000rpm plus off the line with the stock tire...but for street racing I have a SHINKO,,well see. Suspension...lowered helps..springs and preloads I dont touch. but with every change its liek riding anew bike..so once again youll have to find the sweet spot to launch and shift. youll gain more with practice I think.

I'm not speaking from experience but I defintely think more than 4/10th for even just minor mods like gearing changes would be in order. I haven't hit the 'official' drag strip but there is a great place to run 1/4's about 10 min from my house. After I changed the gearing, I noticed a nice punch in acceleration just cause I hit peak power faster (shorter gearing) and this in turn quickens my pace. I think lowering kits help keep the bikes center of gravity down thus allowing you to hit the throttle harder....more so on litre bikes than middleweight bikes.

I ran the same times with gear change..but with more MPH..In theroy its faster but more to handle off the line, so this tell me I need practice.
