Question Looking to Buy a 955i

Hi Everyone, this is my first post and I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

My wife was looking for a new bike to upg from her 95 Kawi Ex500 and came accross the 955i and fell in love with the design and single sided swingarm. Our budget fits for a used 04 or 05 running about $5K.

But my concern was if thats too much bike for her. I've only ridden a triple speed at wheelie school but I ride a Buell XB12R so I have no idea on this.

Can anyone shed some light, any female riders, how do you like your triumph?

Are there any downsides as far as maintenance?

Thanks to everyone for reading this!

How does she feel about it? How much experience does she have with the 500 and why kind of experience?

I can tell you my triple is just a tad quicker than the 500...just a tad But I don't find it jerky or hard to manage.

I think harleyxlc is on the right track with questions...is she ready for a litre bike?

The 955i is, in my opinion, a mild litre bike, but it's a litre none the less which makes it plenty fast. It's also a touch heavy too. The best thing to do...if she decides she's ready...is go take one for a ride. It truly is an awesome bike.

As for maintenance, parts are relatively easy to find, if you know where to look. Everything on the bike is metric and there are some special tools that make things easier, but the special tools can be worked around. There's a few websites that are packed full of triumph experts and SBN has a couple of local guru's that are always very willing to help (<cough>kevinwilly<cough>)...I can speak from experience there. Once you get into the bike, it's not too tough to work on.

I have to warn you though...once your wife gets a Triumph, she will be addicted
