Daytona 955i The Daytona 955i has proved, over the years and miles, that balance is everything. With large amounts of horsepower comes the need for finesse.

Tough call....

how much are you wanting to boost performance by?

You get a lot better throttle response by opening up the intake and exhaust and retuning the ECU.

And by a lot better, i mean a LOT better. It's a night and day difference.

Other than that, you can get a little bit hotter cam for the bike... but you destroy the nice linear power curve of the engine.

But there's honestly not a hell of a lot you can do for speed. The MAIN thing that the Daytona lacks is a good suspension.

I have converted my front end to 2004 GSXR 1000 forks and brakes. The difference is nothing short of incredible. The rear shock is getting changed to either a stock unit that has been re-sprung and re-valved or an Ohlins model. I have not decided yet.

I also have one motor that i am going full-out crazy on. It's getting a custom big-bore kit and new cams, as well as a bunch of head work. Just because i have a couple extra engines and some time on my hands....

There is one guy somewhere that makes a turbo for these things at about 5g's a pop.
What kind of performance are you talking about? 0-60, 1/4 mile, top speed or what?
Get an after market filter such as K&n, freer flowing exhaust, and a tuneboy or power commander. This will give you the best bang for your buck.

I'd say work on the suspension first...
Tuneboy of course and some time at a dyno can help too.

Go up in the rear and down in the front. I wouldn't go too drastic or you'll not keep the front tire on the tarmac. Also, you can fiddle with the tune on a power commander. It is not as tunable as the tuneboy, but you can adjust fuel ratio in fairly small increments based on throttle position.

You can get a custom map if you have not already....elsewise try different downloadable maps. Like someone said....you'll pretty much need a dyno for this if you want maximum performance for fairly litle money. If you are dragracing...then get a different bike; you'll have better luck.
