Default reverse shifter for 955i

hello guys!

I've been working on my 955i for the reverse shifter.
I got the rearsets for RC45 Moriwaki Racing from Japan and of course I modified them for my 955i as much as I can.
Now, the only thing I need is the joint from the gear(with teeth coming out of the engine and unfortunately it is located very deeply...) to the shifter rod.
Since 2000 955i stock shifter comes directly from the gear rod (which I HATE!), I have to have a DEEP joint.
I do like to find one not from aftermarket part shop but from original maker.
I don't mind any maker as long as the joint comes out long enough to connect the shifter rod.

Does anyone know or can give me some idea for it?

Thanks a lot!

you might be able to modify an earlier T-595 setup (they had a linkage system).
Kevin Willy should have some insights

Yeah, the T595's had a linkage setup. You can unsccrew the linkage and get the just the piece you need by doing it.

In FACT, with the linkage setup and a small amount of modification and nothing else, you can have a reverse shift pattern.

I know this because i attached the shifter upside down the very first time i put it on. (oops!!)

And yeah- i will trade you your shifter for one of mine. I have been meaning to try one of the direct ones. People say they are better. I have no idea why. Mine is the smoothest shift bike i have ever ridden, and the linkage is not bad at all.... but like i said- i'd like to have one to try.

I swapped mine out for a direct one years ago...
seemed a lot more "positive" but no GP shift (not that I needed it anyway)

you might need to swap left side pegs too? although I think the newer bikes just have a spacer in there

I think the pegs are the same, there is just a step machined into them that is not used on the newer model bikes. I could be wrong.... but we'll have to see. I have LOTS of extra pegs, though.

That's what I've heard, though- a more positive shift. But i can't honestly see how it could get any better. Maybe they just get a lot of slack in them over time and mine are all in good shape.

Thanks for your answer.
But my direct shifter is located very deep though...
It's nothing like regular shifter joint you see everywhere. It's depth is at least 2 inches.
Anyway, I will go take a look at T595's.
Do you know what year of 595 have linkage shifter?
Thanks brother!

You know that a T595 and a 955i are the same bike, right?

They made the T595 in 97 and 98, and then changed the name to 955i in 99 and kept the same model till 2001.

So your bike is identical in every way to all five of my bikes.

Hence, your shifter would work fine with mine.

They changed over to the direct linkage in mid 99. My 99 955i Dyatona has the linkage shifter on it, still.

I know they are the same bikes.
But I am worried about is the depth of the joint.
My 955 is year 2000.
If you are sure that your linkage system will definitely fit mine. I would like to have that.
Thanks

Oh, it WILL fit, without a doubt. Everything about the 99 is identical to the 2000 model.

You can change out the shifter without a problem. The only thing i'm not 100% sure on is if the left footpeg has the empty space for the linkage to go.

I'm 90% sure the peg is the same, i just can't quite recall. If you want to take a picture of it real quick i can confirm it.

Where can I get it used one for less money?
Thanks!
