Default Daytona 955i

And performance is intrinsic to the Daytona 955i's appeal. Its fuel-injected, three-cylinder engine packs a heavyweight 147bhp punch, which the benchmark chassis - that includes aluminium frame, fully adjustable suspension and powerful four-piston front brake calipers - intuitively contains.

Sleek lines add real class and a touch of 'GT' style to the Daytona 955i's multi-faceted persona, while its sophisticated ergonomics make for all day riding comfort. Beautifully blending raucous, triple-cylinder brawn with scalpel-like handling ability, the Daytona 955i is an intoxicating mix. It's the light with the shade, the rough with the smooth, the sugar and the spice. It's all of these things, and more.

The Daytona 955i is a unique propostion. It matches power to control and serves up a hugely satisfying riding experience in the process. Now that's what you call balance.

Nothing but fond thoughts of the 955i SE I picked up last year. Started noticing it when it was included in all the liter bike comparos last year. While it didn't win any of the shootouts many of the editors/reviewers noted it would be the one they would bring home if it was their own money and the track wasn't the destination. Factor in its great character, looks, inimitable exhaust note, and waaaaay more performance than mortals need on the road... a great bike.

How's the dependability of a triumph? I love the looks and sounds of them. But if they're anything like other european bikes as far as maintenance goes, forget about it, lol

maintenance about the same as Japanese bikes I would say....
Not like a Ducati for big valve-job dollars.....

Change the oil, etc and they are pretty much bomb-proof.

Yes, would agree... zero issues with the 955i so far. Experiences heard from other Triumph owners are consistent.

Just for the record , maintenance issues with other Euro bikes is basically a non-issue. BMW's are a cinch, and Ducati valve clearances are often in spec, not requiring the famous and overblown valve adjustment hearsay.

I've had my '98 since I bought it new in '00 as a leftover for my first bike. 15k miles later, the bike still looks and rides like new. Oil changes, tires, and a few minor upgrades are all I've done to it.

I have attempted to kill two of them, and have not yet succeeded. I mean ATTEMPTED...wheelies for ever, burnouts for no reason, infrequent oil changes (if at all), little to no maintenance, and they WILL NOT DIE. However..the stock speedo cable is NOT rated for the strains that are caused when the front wheel is in the air, spinning at an approximate 30mph, and the motorcycle is moving at an approximate 120mph. When the wheel comes down, you are no longer able to tell your groundspeed. The cable splits itself.

Anyone want a good (and) used Daytona?

Phil

I have had a 1200 Daytona, a T595, and now an 05 955i the only problems I've had from the 3 of them was a throttle cable that stuck on the 1200 no big fix and on my 05 the low fuel light stays on which is also no big deal to fix although i did run out of gas tonight while cruiseing around. My next bike will also be a Daytona I love them and thier uniqueness. I pulled up to a crowd of gsxr's, R1's, and cbr's tonight and everyone comes over to check out my Daytona!!!! They are well worth the money!!!!!

My '02 has been a fun reliable ride from day one.
current mileage 12,200 miles

BTW, if any of you has a tuneboy and own an 02-05 955i, and want to try out a tune which gives a HEALTHY improvement to midrange torque, send me a message.
I don't charge money for my tunes unlike some guys out there.

I found this thread on Google. Quick question: you said that the low fuel light problem is easy to fix? My 2000 Sprint RS just started having that problem about a week ago. Do you know what causes it?

TIA
