Default Daily Driven 675...

Fellow Triumpheers... I have questions concerning the use of my Daytona 675. I purchased this bike is Feb '07, and so far I have put down close to 5k miles on the engine. I commute this bike to work daily, driving more than 100 miles a day, and also make the occasional drive up to Palomar mtn. Now my questions are: How much strain can the engine take? After the 6k service does the engine act differently?

Most of the miles are freeway miles, but I do want to purchase another daily driver and make the Daytona a weekend bike.

I have 22,000 miles on my 97 daytona engine. It runs as strong as the day it was new.

Seriously, sportbike engines last a LONG time. People have been known to get 100k out of them.

Change the oil on a regular basis, do the recommended service, and it'll last indefinitely.

The ONLY instances i have ever heard of that involve triumph engines dying is from a wreck or from running them without enough oil.

Also- it'll shorten the life if you don't change the oil often enough, but i have NEVER heard of a Triumph Triple just going bad.

I would not give it a second thought.

Default as a commuter

your a$$ will blow out before the motor gives you any problem. I've been commuting on mine lately too. The FZ6, Beemer and DRZ are just sitting. This bike is just so much fun!

I'd see if you can find one to sit on for a while before you buy it.... people tend to either love them or hate them.

I have a Sargent recovered seat on my Daytona, and am unsure of if i want to keep it or not. It came with it, but i have a few others i need to try before i decide.

I may just buy a Corbin and be done with it.
