I want better pictures.... also, it look slike you would hit the exhaust with the heel of your right foot.
Actually, I tried it with my boots on and it was fine. I am a size 13 and moved around all over the place. It's a mock up and will probably be a little different when finished.
The pipe is not in it's final position. We are also thinking of doing something like this...
You wouldn't see the collector, only the slash cut pipe coming out.
I'm a personal fan of underseat exhausts... but for the track this makes more sense. I say make it as functional as possible and then worry about looks later...
Also- i may be meeting Diana and Will in Chicago on Friday... you gonna be around?

you know I'm in for that idea...I'm sure you've seen my posts at triumph675.net about side and low mounts...
Please give Hindle a shout and tell them you're interested. I am going to put this pic on 675.net, when it's up again, too. We also want to see if we get any gains out of it. I wouldn't want it to negatively effect the bike.
We spoke to them and this is more to get an idea of what the market is like for it. I think it makes the bike look cool. We are also looking at developing a draft shield for under the tail section with mounts for the lights and turn signals along with the exhaust.
We also weighed that same bike today and came up with 384lbs. When we removed the high pipe, it was 373lbs. This was with a carbon fiber pipe on it, so the weight savings would be significant and it would be moved lower on the bike.
I had even started working on my own. took the undertail off and took pictures. I have a box full of 1.75" mandrel bends just waiting to be used. Weather here just got the best of me. 28 degrees this morning. And I live in an apartment, so no garage to work in.
Here was a shot I took with no undertail to see how it looked:
You're better off petitioning an exhaust manufacturer to do it instead of trying to do it yourself.
I can tell you, from actually seeing it, the process of making an exhaust is pretty complicated if you want meaningful gains. They have flow benches, dynos and all sorts of cool equipment to design an exhaust for optimal flow. In looking at the exhaust, we may have to make up some length in the head pipes to adjust for flow. If you take some length off of your pipe and don't compensate for it in some way, you may lose serious power.
We've asked Hindle to develop the low mount for a race bike. If there's enough interest, we'll put out pics of different prototypes to gauge interest.
Just so you know, I don't work for Hindle We just use them because they put out a lot of horsepower and sound awesome.
yeah, but my intention was to mock something up to see how it looked. I wanted to find a can from an f4i or an r6 and see what it would take to make a new midpipe that could adapt from what we have to stuff already on the market.
