Default Tt600

Hello all. I'm new to SBN and finally upgrading from the trusty Ninja 250. I'm looking at used bikes on the web and found a 2001 Triumph TT600. I don't know very much about them, but I've see it up for awhile now with no one bidding on it. I'm wondering if there is something that should steer me in the direction of the big 4, or if this is solid first 600 bike.

very solid.
usually sold for cheap (because people don't realize what a nice bike they are). some early fuel injection / mapping issues that should have been take care of at the dealership.

every bit as solid as the big-4 offering from that time period, although the styling is thought by some to be outdated.

moving to the TT forum

Know a guy who had a TT and loved it. Great alternative to the Jap I4's just not as trendy.

I have a 2000 TT and love it. No problems and great power for a 600. Go to triumphrat.net , they have a supersport section that is loaded with TT owners.

They are good bikes.

A lot of people tend to bash the I-4 triumph bikes for some reason.

They are honestly VERY nice bikes. The only reason I would pick a Japanese bike over one of those is parts availability (as in second hand used parts in good condition, not OEM replacements). But if you don't think you'll need spare parts and the price is right, they are pretty damned good bikes.

(fwiw, i was looking to get one for quite a while, never found a good enough deal to buy one)

I thought the same. Went out looking for the "Big Four" and happened upon my '00TT600 that was well cared for by a BMW mechanic. Lower end power range needs help (TechLusion and a new map from dealer helped that out. Plus I can dial it in for track with one of the four pods) added a tooth to the front gearing and four to the rear for faster acceleration out of the corners. Gave a bit up on the top end, but I ALWAYS catch 'em in the corners!!
Bought it with 12500 miles on it two and a half years ago. Now up to 33K and still running strong!!. Replaced timing chain and water pump. Only two things since (besides changing oil, water, chain, and the infamous tires many times over). Been a great bike.
Oh, and yeah, the best part? Insurance is Wayyy cheaper due to it's NOT the big four!!!
