Im surprised anyone with a bike has a problem talking to people. I find people see the bike and they strike up the conversations. Hell Ive had people try and talk to me at stop lights and my bike isnt all that nice.

Except now that he has wrecked, he has the bike parked for a few weeks. Has to make things harder.

Disregard all of my previous posts. After I read this - and completely related to it - I feel bad.

My apologies for being a smart-ass. I was brought up the same way, btw.

Sorry, again. I'll try and read the whole thread next time before I post some dumb-ass comment, deal?

back when i was single i used to talk to women just like they were one of my guy friends. from my exp. (and in my humble opinion) they feel as though it's refreshing. it also allows for a broader range of communication between the two of you. i never expected anything to come out of the conversations which leads me to believe that the open communication route is always the best way to go.

I feel for you man. I was with my ex-wife for 12 years, been single almost a year and a half. But hey, finally got that bike I've been wanting! I haven't even thought about a girlfriend yet (not sex, I think about that all the time!). I just don't have my sh!t together enough right now, and like someone said earlier, I just didn't feel it was fair to the girls to try to date right now. I've never been that guy that can just walk right up to girls and be interesting and charming, but I do have a little advice. My life became a whole lot easier when I learned to accept the fact that I'm a geek. I watch Discovery channel more than sports, I think science is cool, and I love to read sci-fi and fantasy books. Point is, when you're comfortable with who you are, it shows and chicks dig it. Secondly, when I was married it was a lot easier to talk to girls. That's because, like others have said, I knew it wasn't going anywhere. It's hard to do, but if you tell yourself nothings going to happen, you can relax and say something other than "Garsh yew sher are purdy!". Best of luck to you!

One day you will walk in a place and she will talk to you and the next thing you know you in... happens just like that when you least expect it. Today it seems hopeless then tomorrow you are waliking on clouds.

I forgot all about this post...

to be honest I'm pretty damn shy when I first meet girls unless like maybe it's at work...and trying to flirt with anyone from the opposite sex at work is a big no no

After I've known a girl for a while I can talk all I want and not be shy or any of that good stuff.......and I too watch Discovery/TLC more than sports....

Pfft, lucky. I can't talk to ANYONE - male, female, attractive, not... It doesn't matter. 90% of the time, the person I'm talking to is boring as hell. Ooh, rainforests and puppydogs. Bush is bad, Wal-Mart is bad, We're killing our planet, blah-blah-blah.

I open my mouth about bikes - no common ground.
I open my mouth about computers - they fall asleep.
I talk about guns - I get back "I had a .22 when I was younger".
Cars? People around here pay to have their oil changed.
The second I mention anime, I obtain "insta-fag" status.

The world is full of different people. Unfortunately, most of them suck.

Yeah, I have the same problem TeeJay, but only when I talk about something technical. I seem to have an understanding of these things far greater than most people in my age range, at least that are local to me.

But I don't have so much of a problem talking to people, or just plain telling a girl that she's pretty, even though I've never met her before. =)

Shite I've NEVER been able to talk to women I've been interested in. I always screw it up. The only females I'm comfortable talking to are the ones that are not available ex. older, married, or underage. No sexual tension so I can actually relax.

Too true, and anymore it seems the reason I think they suck so much is because they have no hobbies or interests. Just goto work, school, and watch tv or go out drinking...yay
