i am in an opposite situation. me and my g/f of a little over 2years broke up on saturday. she was my first serious g/f, but def not my first g/f. i have missed out on a lot of the college experience but on the other hand i found a great girl that is incredible good looking and very cool. however i made a few mistakes which soured our relationship and we havent been able to recover. we've been trying to move on and it just isnt working, as much as we both want it to. we have no trust and the jealousy issues are overwhelming. on one hand i see where you are coming from and i wish i wouldnt have made the mistakes i did to ruin this relationship, but on the other hand this is the age when we need to learn what we want/not want and how to make a relationship work. live and learn i guess...
sorry i guess this is more a rant..

I met a girl who I was with for a while and I lost her. I lost her to stupid things, things that never mattered to me. Things that I wouldn't even think of now.
Im telling you guys this because it looks like I lost her for good. We started talking again a while ago, but now Its been a while since I last talked to her. Im out of ideas on what to say to her, what to do...basically its not looking like im gonna be talking to her again.
So heres a lesson to all you guys out there who were like I was. Dont be in my position down the road...
Find that girl who you love and give her everything you can possibly give.
That way you're not kicking yourself like I am now, and that you don't regret anything like I do now.

I know it sucks now guys, but it will get better. The trick is to stop worrying about it. Let them go. It's hard, believe me I know. Once a relationship turns sour it's very hard to set it straight. Besides, it may not seem like it now, but a year from now you could meet a chick that's ten times better in every way. Be strong fellas.

I would let her go, it's just that I've known her since the beginning of 2004, and shes one of those girls you don't let go. To me, she was the perfect girl. She still is in my eyes. I did the sweet little things that made her want to be with me, now that shes gone I really need to do more to show her just how much i care...im just clueless on how to do it.
Any ideas on how to get this girl back??

Tell her exactly how you feel, what you've been thinking and that you really care about her...being upfront is the best thing anyone can do, if she accepts what you say then you two can move on if she doesn't want to you are better off!

I felt the same way once... lost a girl. Couldn't eat, sleep... was pretty much heart broken for a whole year. It got better with time, but i still remember how much it hurt. 5 years later, met my wife. Oh how things were different, i couldn't believe it. I ran into the ex for the first time in 10 years since we broke up, she was at McDonalds with her 3 dirty kids and wearing sweatpants and I know that when I said "hi" I had the biggest shit eating grin on my face and I was thinking how lucky am I? Good luck man, sometimes blessings come in disguise.

Not sure how old you are, but notice one thing about those of us who are over the age of 22...everyone's telling you to get over it. There's a buttload of good women out there; you just have to surf through the chaffe to find them. And surfin' is the fun part.... You've got years before you need to worry about this "let the good one go" schtick.

Dude seriously, forget about her. Act like you don't care about her. Either things will work themselves out or you'll end up with another girl just as good or better. If you keep up this behavior you'll still be single or her bitch. Neither of which you should want to be.
It was hard for me to listen to advice like this once upon a time. All throughout highschool I was with the same girl. Things were great. Senior year she feeds me this "I'm so young, I need to be single my senior year.... blah, blah, blah." So I tried so hard to get her back. I thought I would die without her. Then I find out she's seeing some other guy a month after we broke up. Me being stupid I was STILL trying to get her back. She then tells me I never made her happy and all this other crap. So I felt like shit for months.
Fast forward two years. I was happily engaged to my new girl. Out of the blue my ex calls me. Tells me her and the dude broke up. Then she goes on and on about how good things were with me and how she regrets leaving me. Well guess what, too late, I'm engaged and perfectly happy without you.
Anyway, keep your head up and have fun. Go out with your friends and do everything you want to do. In a couple years you will look back and realize these were the best years of your life. You don't want to regret them because you were sick over some chick that has probably found a new guy anyway. (Sorry man, the truth hurts)
If you haven't seen Swingers I command you to buy it ASAP. You don't want to be the main character in that movie. Until the end anyway.

amen fellas. the thing for me is, i know she is not the one. our personalities are not alike, we have different views on a lot of stuff, but somehow we managed to fall in love in the past two years. being my first serious relationship, i will always have a place in my heart for her(i know that sounds weak) but i do also know that it is time to move on.
