So this girl and I have been seeing each other for about 3 months and nothing could be better, we were perfect for each other and perfect together, never argued and more accurately described as being in love. Last saturday her exboyfriend from 6 months ago (when they were together she really cared for him and they have been friends for about 2 years (still are too) even though they only dated for a month or so) decided he was going to, out of the blue, propose to her. Now she is really upset as you can imagine .

My problem is she is so upset she doesn't want to talk to me or see me or anyone for that matter. She said she needs some time to herself, altho she did ask me to come see her at work sunday. She has never lied to me not even a little lie and I believe her with all my heart. I asked her if she was considering the proposal and she said no, she also said she cares about me and still wants to be with me. She is just really upset and needs time to herself. We haven't spent any time together since then, and we have only talked briefly each day.

So I am pretty sad and not sure what to do. I do know it was a huge dick move on the part of the guy.

Ladies has this ever happened to you and what are some of your thoughts about this.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Id just make sure you let her know that it was a pathetic attempt at his part to do that and that you have enough self dignity to fade out while she plays with her emotions.

Show a little dignity if you want her to treat you accordingly. If you act all worried and insecure about it, why should she not think it may be a better offer on the table.

Then when it all blows over........mail him some pictures of you tagging her.

I totally agree with you but it is sooooo hard to not have contact with her because I care so much.

I said call her and say something along these lines

"You know how weak that attempt is dont you?" "Seeing that it bothers you so much I am going to do my own thing while you figure this stuff out, I am confident you can do the right thing and we can move on."

Dont use it verbatim or anything but its a general guideline.

yea I basically told her that and she agreed it was a totally fucked up thing to do. I am out of a job at the moment so its kinda like a prison sentence (no job no girl nothing to do) so I am thinking of going to see the folks in green bay for a while so I wont be tempted to see her.

It won't matter if you had laid out everything that this other guy was going to do before he did it. do what the guys have said. I've been there, told her exactly what the ex was going to pull next and she fell for it anyway. gave her another chance, he started his shit again. and again I told her what was going to happen next with him. finally I told her to make a decision that if she chose him I was done with her. haven't called or even realy thought about her in years. I'm much better off without her.

It is normal to be concerned and the fact it upset her means she is considering it. She is upset b/c she don't want to hurt you. If it meant nothing to her then she would have blown him off and be seeeing you like normal. Hope for the best, but plan for the worst. Be ready to move on if she decides to break it off with you.

As an old fart, I know I'm way removed from the whole dating scene and on more than one occassion have been told my use of modern idioms is severly lacking. However if it were me, I'd pop a cap in his ass. What else would you expect from a Texan?

all good stuff. I think I will give her until next week sometime and I will approach her about choosing either him or me. I think that will be enough time for her to get over it. I am pretty sure we are done either way. I would really like to say something today but I am not sure it would be respectful to act so quickly.
