Default 2003 954rr

Ok I am looking at possibly getting a second bike. Something with a little more attitude then my 03 VFR800. There is a Blue/Black 954 with 5700 miles on it. Salvage title, asking 5249/obo.

What I am wondering is what can I expect with this bike? How is it compared to a 1000 or 600RR? Is it going to be a big difference compared to my bike? If I can get something that is allot more fun then what I am riding now that would be great. I have not checked on insurance yet, paying 325yr right now. Insurance is a big factor in what I get, or I would just get a newer 1000rr. Not worried about bike payment because it's cheaper then my vfr already.

So any input on the quality, accessories, or anything else I need to know would be great.

Or should I just get a small loan 3-4000 and do everything possibly left to do on my bike.

That's kinda high for a salvage title. The bike is incredible. Plenty more than your VFR, but very manageable.

If you have good record, insurance should be low. It's not considered a literbike, so it's usually in a lower bracket for insurance.

There are a boat load of accessories, but stock you may want a steering dampner. That's about it. I liked mine better without the dampner. It's as nimble as a 600, if you get it set up right. Nice and light, steady and confident in the turns.

It doesn't have the midrange of the 1000's, but learning how to ride it you'll have no issue hanging with the big boys on the track. Just don't expect to hang with the latest generations. Those are whole new monsters (that, or the 04 zx10r's).

and before someone else speaks up, or you think "then what about a 750" ... don't. The 954 is just a fantastic machine. Own it. You will not regret it.
