Default Age old 'what tire to buy' question

I bought the bike with an almost gone front tire and pretty worn on top rear, bike has 9,109 miles on it.

I put a lot of miles on my bike, mostly commuting but I still hit the twisties hard on the weekends fairly often. Track days aren't out of the question either, but were talking maybe once a season unfortunately [good ol' college budget].

I'm looking for something that will last a decent while [at least 4k rear and 6-7k front] and have as good as possible performance in dry/wet/etc. Cost isn't an issue, value is what I'm concerned with.

Any suggestions? Stock tires are rarely the best choice, that's what's on the rear, 2nd tire, and front, stock tire [yikes].

That's what I'm starting to learn towards. I put a brand new metz z6 on my last bike before I sold it, it was a POS in the rain. 80lbs of tq does cause some problems, but my worn to hell rear before that held much better in the wet. So I'm looking to try out something new, any package deals going on? I only really need the front but if I get a good deal I may pick them both up.

Another vote for the Pilot Powers!!!!

I have had the stock Bridgestones (they suck), Pirelli Diablo's (2nd favorite) and Dunlops of all varieties. I will honestly say you will be hard pressed to find a better tire then the pilots.

I'm seriously considering buying the sponser deal for the Pilot Power CT's, something like 285 shipped with a 190 rear. I paid 220+ installed for the rear metzler z6 on the bike I just sold, argh!
