Top speed tips
So, I have a 954 now and I want to see what kind of number I can
dial up on the speedo on a long straight at full throttle. Never done
it before on a serious sportbike. Anything to watch for so I don't
waste myself?

find a nice SMOOTH cop-less straight away. make sure it is smooth, go up it a couple times slow and look for potholes and shit. also id try to do it somewhere where an animal or person( ) or anything else wont run out in front of you. dude just make sure its safe, you dont want a tank slapper or a car turning in front of you at 175mph

Try no to go out on a windy day. Also make sure you are in full tuck. Don't go full bore, work yourself up in say 10-20mph increments.

The racetrack or drag strip is a good controlled environment to do this. Or you can take Snigg's advice and possibly die or kill someone else.
So the question is, are you going to be another one of those jackasses that are giving us sportbikers a bad name or are you going to be a responsible rider?

Exactly the reason I removed my advice.

You can attempt to speed some what responsibly. I have found some lonely roads in Texas, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota. Places where you can ride for hours and not see anyone, no one goes there, no one lives there and there isn’t even that many animals around.
That’s where I chose to open it up (a bit). But only for a short time. All I have to say is the 954RR is a fast bike, unfortunately I have no clue what my top speed is on it since I have to tuck in behind the windscreen and I don’t dare to look away from the road for even a split second

Yeah come on down my street and try it, while my younger sister and her friends are playing in the front yard..... if you live through the ride you can then come get a nice ass kicking from me Sorry if it sounds harsh, but there really is NO place to be going 175 mph on public roads.

I agree with snigg. Just know the area very well and still be careful.

Why not wait until you have to run from the cops? You will experience an added boost of adrenaline.

I'm in the process of purchasing an 03 954... I'm like a little kid at x-mas... so excited... all I can say is my f4i does 173 downhill... and that's a 600.
find a way around your governor and you'll do over 200 guaranteed... but please... only when conditions warrant like vivid 1 said.... open road.
