Default She disagrees

05 CBR600rr. Gets a very mild headshake during high speed lane transitions, and a mild headshake going from a fast left hander to a fast right hander and visa versa. Normal? Loose neck bearings? n e ideas? its not scary or any thing, someone just asked me about it when I we were conversing over cornering.

Hmm I am not sure I am going to do some more digging and figure out what it is. A steering dampner is good but if this is a pre existing condition a Dampner will only cover it up and it may get worse. Now don't get me wrong a steering dampners are good to prevent headshakes but you want those to be Headshakes that are enviromentally caused not mechanically caused. Have someone take a look at your bike

^^^dude, its a 2005 model, not a 1995 model.

Frame, how many miles are on the bike? Did you buy it new or used? If you bought it used, do you know the guy you bought it from? I mean, how did he ride it? Stunted? slammed wheelies down? Etc?

The answers to those questions will define the next answer. If is new when you bought it, I would say, the likelyhood of something wearing out that could be causing the head to shake would be small. In which case, you will need a damper. personally, I don't ride a bike w/o one. they are too nimble and flighty w/o it.

05 model, bought new, no other riders. Only get headshake making real quick transitions under acceleration. Nothing I cant fight, but I know it there. Damper was my first thought, just wanted some input. Thanx

I would guess steering head bearings or an unbalaced tire.
I get very little or no head shake on my 600rr.

Question

Tires worn down?....If so, almost guaranteed shake...

If you've got good tires, invest in a good damper...

yea, I have new pilot powers with about 600 miles one them. The guys at the shop are sorta worried, they are checking it out. Even though its a fit and new bike. Probably just gonna havta get a steering damper.

Scotts or Ohlins...Can't go wrong with either...

They're both extremely easy to use...One extra with Scotts is you can adjust while riding...
