Default Motorcycle Navigation

Ok, I don't know about you guys but I use a navigation system quite often in my car. Well, I was looking for one for the bike and what a surprise. The cheapest I found was $650.00. I call my cell phone provider (Verizon) and for only $10.00 per month I got navigation srvc in my ph (UNLIMITED!). The way it works for me is, I put the ph in my pocket (Jacket)and a earbud(iDIGI Stereo Earbud)in my ear under the helmet, After that I program my destination on the ph and that's it. I get verbal step by step navigation to my final destination. The cool thing is that the VZNavigation service from Verizon tells me my next left or right turn by letting me know the street name and the direction that I'll be going to turn, I receive this info like a mile before the turn and then like 300 feet before the turn. Is this cool or what. This means that I don't need to look at the map in the phone at all. **I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING RELATED TO THIS SERVICE OR FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE SERVICE, I DON'T EVEN WORK FOR VERIZON, BUT I AM JUST WANTING TO SHARE THIS INFO. IN CASE SOMEBODY ELSE IN THE FORUM IS ALSO LOOKING FOR A NAV SYSTEM**
Best Regards.

Cool, Thanks. I will check this product out. How is life in Italy? I'm asking because I never been in Europe.

I have a Garmin 2610. It comes with software so you can plot your routes on your pc, then load them onto the garmin. Works great! It also plots normally like every other gps, if you want to just get from a to b.

I believe the 2710 is the next model with 3D graphics.

You can find them for under $200 bucks.

You can buy a Ram mount for your bike for about $50 from cyclegadets.com.

I'm still in the stone age with paper maps. I did not know that you could do that with your phone service. I will definitely be checking this out.

It works pretty well, however I was riding in the mountains the other day and there was no phone signal, therefore I was unable to use it like for an hour. I always carry a paper map in case this happens.

When you are riding your bike is your Garmin 2610 working on it's own internal battery? If so, how long can you use the GPS on a single charge?

I use a Garmin Nuvi 350, a ram mount from cyclegadgets, and I hardwired a 12V plug in and just run my cord to the nav system and viola.... never run on batteries and since the gps comes with a built in mp3 player im good to roll. and dont have to pay a monthly charge.

The 2610 doesn't have a battery. Its hardwired in with a connector.
