Default Service Intervals for F2

I have a '94 CBR600. I bought it when it has 20,000 miles on it. I dont have a definate record of the services that have been done. the previous owner told me that the owner before him did a CCT, and full tune up(whatever that means) 2 years ago. Other than that I don't know anything else

This is my first bike so I dont know what a bike should or shouldnt sound like. But I'm afraid there maybe something possibly wrong, but my untrained self just dont hear or feel it. So what are some services that should be done before 20k miles. Do the valves need to be adjusted like a car? thanks.

I also ride a 94 CBR... love it.
I would take it in for a valve adjustment (even if it doesnt need it, at least you'll have the piece of mind; if you can, check them yourself) and a carb sync. This should be about 2.5 - 3 hours labor. You should check the spark plugs and if they are bad get them replaced at the same time. The mechanic should tell you if he sees anything wrong. Get yourself a manual and read over the maintenance section, there is a lot you can do yourself that is relatively simple.

How much do you think a shop would charge for a valve adjustment and a carb sync?

2.5 - 3 x (whatever they charge labor)

Shop labour here is $60 - 75 per hour (canadian). I think if you need a gasket its about 15 bucks. Only a few bucks for other parts they may need.

If you only need a carb sync it's about an hour. If you don't know when the last valve adjustment was (if ever) then go for it, even if it doesn't need it at least you'll know and have the reciepts when you go to sell it. Definetly get the carbs synced when getting valves checked though.
